TIME SAVER!!! GREAT PRODUCT!!!!
I bought the medium & fine microplane. I find them very easy to use for grating chunks of cheese, orange and lemon zesting, fresh garlic,
etc. I even use the medium microplane to grate cooked chicken to sprinkle on my small dog's kibble food!!! lol

The blades are very sharp and grate easily. I have not put mine in the dishwasher; I just use a dish brush(so I don't cut myself) and dish soap to clean

Great Grater!
This medium ribbon grater is perfect for grating cheddar cheese into our soups and homemade mac 'n cheese. I also used it to grate butter for our favorite shortbread recipe, which resulted in a less dense cookie. It worked so well, I could grate my butter quickly, before it melted in my hands. It grates into soft, fluffy curls, rather than straight and more coarse pieces. So easy to use, so easy to clean with a kitchen brush. Plastic guard cover is great for safe storage

my older microplane finally died - it was the hard plastic handled kind and it snapped! So hopefully this will last a bit longer

Can you grate in both directions?
Amy Q on Jan 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The blades are sharpened to be able to grate in both directions, but I personally hold it at an angle with the flat end pressed onto my cutting board and slide the food (I use this grater exclusively for "hard" items like hard cheeses and chocolate). It would be very difficult (the way I hold it) to grate "up" and pull the food back up the handle. I haven't found that it works awesome on soft cheeses- I prefer my box grater for that.
