D’Artagnan Organic Free-Range Turkeys
We love this for how easy it makes serving and enjoying a naturally delicious and healthy organic free-range turkey for your holiday meal. D’Artagnan-certified farm-raised birds are fed an all-vegetarian diet consisting of 100% organic whole grains and pure spring water, with no protein supplements, added poultry or fish by-products, pesticides or herbicides.
In addition, no antibiotics, growth hormones or arsenicals are administered and the birds benefit from an environment that never uses artificial light. Adherence to these principles led to Organic Certification in 1990 by the Northeast Organic Farmer’s Association. The result is an amazingly tender and moist turkey with superb flavor and 25% less fat than standard, commercially raised turkeys. You’ll never go back to store-bought birds again.
If you plan on having no leftovers, we recommend you estimate about 1 to 1½ pounds per person to determine the size of turkey you will need. For example, an 8–10-pound turkey will yield around 6–8 servings. If the tasty leftovers are why you cook a turkey in the first place, plan on at least 1¾ pounds per person.
