Born of the U.S. steel age in 1967, Clad Metals found its roots in a small, metallurgical company that specialized in formulating bonded metals for a variety of industries. Company founder, John Ulam, realized that the combination of dissimilar metals delivered superior results that no individual metal could achieve. He was awarded more than 50 U.S. patents, specifically related to bonded metals, and was instrumental in the US Mint’s conversion from solid silver coins to the bonded layered metals we use today.
After years of perfecting his bonding process, Ulam established All-Clad Metalcrafters in 1971 and began producing commercial-quality bonded cookware for professional chefs and gourmet home cooks. The brand flourished as early adopters realized the cookware's extraordinary properties and exemplary cooking performance.
Today, this revolutionary cookware is still made in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania–the same way it was four decades ago. All-Clad is the only bonded cookware manufacturer to use American craftsmen and American-made metals to produce a complete line of first-rate bonded cookware.
