"Love this so much, I bought one for Mom!"
Excellent for steaming veggies, and deep enough for most artichokes. Works like a charm and easy to clean up. In typical All-Clad style, the quality is great. Buy one for yourself and one for Mom! (I did!

Why did you choose this?
Sur La Table Store
I burned the old one by not putting water in it to use with the steamer. Probably should have put water in it first. Now I know. It also might have been better to use the regular 3 qt pan instead of this double boiler pan, says the wife -- but you have to put water in that, too, I presume, so it probably cost me less to destroy this pan than it would have cost to destroy the regular saucepan -- and this one is on sale, too! How clever of me, huh?

I bake a lot and wanted a double-boiler insert that fit my new All-Clad Copper Core pots. The price was right on this one.

Does this work with the 3 QT saucier
A shopper on Mar 29, 2013
Best Answer: There is a 1/2"" difference in the diameter of the 3 qt sauce pan and the 3 qt saucier, so I don't believe the double boiler would fit properly into the saucier

Can i use this double boiler as a stand alone pot? Is this stove top safe?
Jeongeun Y on Jan 5, 2015
Best Answer: No. The bottom of the pan is considerably thinner than a regular pot in order to transfer the heat from the boiling water in the pot below. This thin bottom would not be appropriate for normal cooking temperatures.

would this pan insert work with a 2 or 4 qt saucier?
A shopper on Apr 6, 2014
Best Answer: This insert will work in the 2qt saucier, but not the 4qt

I have a 3 qt and 4 qt D5 saucepans...will it fit and can it be brushed stainless steel?
A shopper on Mar 5, 2015
Best Answer: Yes it will. You can use the lid from either pan to cover said boiler to accelerate the heating process. Doesn't matter if it is brushed. It also fits into the 2 quart copper clad sauce pan (happy accident).
