Le Parfait glass terrine canning jars are perfect for preserving the flavors of your favorite vegetables and fruits. The lid is mounted on a wire hinge with a locking lever to fasten the lid to the top of the jar securely. A rubber o-ring is inserted into the lid as a gasket, creating an airtight seal.
I agree with the other reviewer. Bought these 30 or 40 years ago for cereal, pasta, flour, sugar, oatmeal, grits, snacks, candy. They look great. Keep foods perfect, especially in muggy, humid weather. Look fabulous with foods in. Love them. Glad to know beautiful labels are now available, especially for gift-giving
I have one of these jars that holds spaghetti. It is very tall. I bought it at least THIRTY YEARS ago from I don't know where. It is still going strong! The orange gasket is very brittle, and I am so glad to know that I can find replacements at Sur La Table. I can't wait to add to my Le Parfait collection
Holds 1 pound of yeast and the yeast spoon perfecly!
I store a 16 oz bag of SAF yeast in the 26.4 oz size jar. Conveniently, there is enough room in the jar for all the yeast and it can store the special volume yeast spoon upright. I keep both in the refrigerator so I know where both are when I need them.
If you are a baker or need a gift for one, this is very thoughtful option.
I store a 16 oz bag of yeast in a 26.4 oz container. It is tall enough to accommodate a standing 'yeast spoon' inside the jar so there isn't any last minute searching. I use a 12.3 oz container to store my Maldon salt, fits perfectly, keeps my salt dry and looks beautiful all at the same time.
To organize my pantry. They will be the perfect size for organizing pastas, staples, and baking needs. Plus they seal tight and will keep things fresh, as well as deter any pests that want a free snack!
Item is not made in China. Made in France means quality assurance. For health, glass lid and glass container would be better than glass container with a plastic lid or metal lid. One piece rather than two piece.

Best Answer:It is recommended to sterilize jars & lids in boiling water for about 20 minutes. I fill the sterilized jar, and sometimes need to wipe the edge where the gasket would go with a clean tea towel if anything dripped. Have gaskets soaking in hot water that has been boiled and removed from stove. Put gasket on, put glass lid on, put wire bale on, then secure the closure snap HALF-way. Process the jars [yes it is OK to boil them with the gaskets on] and the closure only half-way. While the jars are being processed with the closure in half-way position, it is normal for air bubbles to come out of the jar. After removing the processed jars then secure the closure ALL the way.I was brought up to let the jars cool standing up-side down, that way any improper seals will result in a leaky jar. [After they cool, store them right side up.]I was able to locate this information at http://familycow.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=gardens&action=print&thread=1325

Can one use these jars to can meat (in a pressure canner)?
A shopper on Oct 28, 2012
Best Answer:These jars are not meant to be used in a pressure canner. If you want to can meat, you will need mason jars. They are made of heat-tempered glass for durability and reuse. These are the only jars recommended for safe home pressure canning
