Since 1915, experienced cooks and beginners alike have reached for Pyrex glassware products. It all started with glass bakeware—loved for generations because it’s affordable, durable, odor and stain proof, and great for cooking, serving and storing. Today, approximately 80% of U.S. homes have Pyrex glass products, with many cooks passing them down from generation to generation.
The idea for Pyrex Glassware came from the industrious wife of a Corning Glass Works scientist who was frustrated with her unreliable casserole dish. Knowing the strength of the railroad signal lantern glass her husband worked with, she begged him to bring home something she could use in the kitchen.
Voilà, the Pyrex baking dish was born.
Pyrex Glassware Is Still Made in America.
Since 1915, Pyrex has manufactured glassware in America, including at its facility in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, since the 1940s. While many companies have abandoned domestic manufacturing, Pyrex remains a longstanding member of the community, employing more than 700 employees in Pennsylvania across two unionized facilities, and about 2500 men and women across its US manufacturing and distribution facilities.
Keeping the faith with their consumers, employees and vision for the future, Pyrex has expanded its US manufacturing operations, demonstrating its strong commitment to American manufacturing and jobs.
