Better than a blade grinder
This is my first burr grinder and it is a step up from a blade grinder. It is well made and easy to use.

I've used it at 8.5 for a French Press and at 4 for a pour-over cone filter. The grind comes out very even with no big chunks like a blade grinder.

It's nice and compact. It doesn't take much more space on my counter than my blade grinder did. It's quieter, faster, and grinds more at a time.

The burr top should be removed and cleaned out between grindings, especially if you are changing coffee blends or varieties. Beans from a prior batch are still in the grinding chamber; so if you don't want them mixed in with the new batch, you need to pour them out first.

The little cleaning brush that comes with it isn't much use. I clean the burr chamber with a damp paper, towel but I have to be careful not to get bits of paper in the chamber. I'm looking for a better cleaning tool for it now.

This is a good entry-level burr grinder for medium to coarse gound coffee. I have not tried it for very fine espresso, but I don't expect a $50 coffee grinder to be perfect

wish I hadn't - the grind is hard to adjust and the grounds mostly coarse.

There's quite a price range of the burr grinders in my budget (up to $149). What makes the more costly ones better? Many thanks for the help!

Best Answer: The costlier ones typically have better grinders (like ceramic instead of metal) and can keep your grinds cool so they don't burn while grinding. Other great features are more grind settings, larger capacity and the ability to measure how much coffee you have ground.

How much coffee is ground per ""cup?"

The cup selections are 4, 8, and 12. How much coffee is ground for 4, 8, and 12 cups? Can the lever be set in between these options for 2, 6, or 10 cups? Grinding coffee for 4 cups at a time would be too much
A shopper on Mar 8, 2014
Best Answer: According to Capresso, there is no way to determine how much coffee is ground per cup because depending on the coarseness of your grind, the amount ground is subject to change. The lever can be set for the in between options
