"Great value, great whistling kettle!"
I love whistling kettles. I can't imagine waking up in the morning without the sound of one. This kettle holds a lot of water and is great for filling large French presses or serving tea to a room full of guests. The handle moves out of the way to make filling easy. The lid stays on firmly and there's been no issues with rust. The brushed, stainless steel finish also gives it a nice contemporary look. My friend liked it so much she wanted to take it back to South America with her. Now I'll have to buy her one too

My First Tea Kettle
I remember my grandmother's kettle whistling every morning & have always wanted one of my own. This one is great so far! The lid fits firmly & the spout is easy to open & close (although perhaps a bit awkward because I've been afraid of burning myself on other parts of the kettle). Water doesn't take very long at all to get to a boil & the whistle is more easy going than other kettles I've heard. It's loud enough to be heard throughout the house, but not the screeching loud I've heard before. I thought the handle might give me issues but it has never gotten so hot that I couldn't just grab it with my bare hands. I'd totally recommend this product to others.

Defective?
The style is nice. It fits my small burner perfectly. It holds less than 2 quarts which is fine with me. The only issue? It hasn't whistled yet! I have tried using various amounts of water to no avail. If you want a tea kettle without that particular feature, this could be the one! Or, Is it just defective? Hmmm?

Does the Oxo tea kettle spout cover stay up or must you hold it?
A shopper on Apr 3, 2015
Best Answer: It stays up without holding it. It clicks from open to closed. It has a pad on it similar to the handle so you can pop it open when your water is ready to be poured even when it is boiling.
