HANDCRAFTED IN FRANCE

At the Le Creuset foundry in northern France, molten iron is sand-cast from a single mold that’s destroyed after use, explaining why no two pieces are exactly alike. The Le Creuset cast-iron braiser is sand-cast, painstakingly polished and finished by hand, then sprayed with two coats of enamel and fired twice. No other procedure yields cookware that performs as well.

Since Le Creuset’s enameled cast-iron cookware evenly distributes heat, the braiser is perfect for searing, simmering, sautéing, and braising meats. It combines the versatility of a wide cooking area with the precision and control of a heat-retaining lid. A flat base allows for poaching, searing, roasting, stir-frying, and browning, and is also great for everything from rich risottos and spicy curries to jasmine rice and more. A re-engineered lid makes sure it stays more securely in place and locks in more flavors and aromas. Built-in lid stabilizers create a no-slide fit, and the slip-resistant composite knob is heat resistant to 500°F. Oversized handles (now 45% larger) provide even weight distribution and a secure grip, so you can easily transport the pot from stovetop to oven to table—even while wearing oven mitts.

Awesome cookware le creuset is !
The best investment I have ever made for being 13 . A beginner cook needs a good pot and this didn't fail me . Basically nonstick , super easy clean up , and wonderfully large and comfortable handles . Oh and oven safe. Thats a plus

Amazingly versatile
As with all Le Creuset, you know you're making a wise investment. This piece is especially versatile as the bottom can be used for pan frying - crab cakes turn out especially well. The depth is ideal for braising smaller-medium pieces of meat such as fish and poultry. This allows you to save your larger French ovens for other dishes, or bigger cuts of meat.

The large loop handles make this easy to maneuver, whether moving it into the oven, or bringing it to the table for a beautiful presentation. That's also nice because it spares you from having to dirty another plate, or make a mess in transferring your food to a platter.

The only question is - which color to get? I chose the indigo, which looks far better in person than on the website, because of its beauty, classic color, and masculine appearance. You can either choose indigo to match your existing pieces, or to add another color to your Le Creuset collection.

Among the Le Creuset line, this is among their most versatile pieces, and you'll find yourself reaching for it again and again

Difference between braiser and dutch oven

I'm debating between purchasing two le creuset cast iron products - the wide, round dutch oven vs. the braiser. How do they compare for versatility and use

Best Answer: Both the braiser and the French/Dutch Oven offer many of the same features. You can sear, bake, do reductions for sauce and serve all in the same vessel. Both retain their heat for a long time so your food stays hot longer, and both can be used on the stovetop as well as the oven.Because the braiser is spread out farther than a French Oven you have a larger space for browning/searing your food to accomodate perhaps a chuck steak or chicken pieces. With the French Oven you can still brown/sear your food, but it will accomodate taller foods such as a roast or a whole chicken. The braiser can also be used for a saute pan with the lid off or for pan frying where the French Oven can also be used for a deep fryer
