Splatter Guards Functional and Cute
Visited the store during a weekend trip to NYC. I cannot tell you how many paper plates I have used to prevent splattering - especially in the microwave. These guards are a dream come true. The little ""feet"" on the bottom come in handy to elevate, when needed. The fact that they can also be used as mini cookie sheets and as draining tools is a big plus. So glad they come in attractive colors - my kitchen accent color is red, so I am a happy camper. Great product and so versatile

Not an effective spatter screen
I was trying to brown pork tenderloins and used this product to reduce the grease spatters. The tenderloins steamed instead of browned. Maybe using this for other purposes is fine, but not for browning. Would not recommend it. Trying to find my receipt so I can return it

Does its job
I purchased these in MA while visiting relatives (I live in NJ --don't have a store close to me). My others screens were pretty old and not doing their job anymore. These splatter screens are great. Use them to reduce splatter, drain bacon, and even have used them for baking cookies.
Durable and they do well in the dishwasher.
Will be purchasing another set as a Christmas gift for my daughter

Mixed Review
I was very happy with the function of withholding the splatter from the grill pan that I bought. But it seemed that after washing the splatter screen, it still carried the odor of the hamburger dinner--and I wand shrimp tomorrow... I hope this goes away. Does anyone know how to ensure it goes away? (Yes, I washed it!

Sturdy
I am constantly replacing my splatter screens. These screens are multi purpose and they appear to be ones that will last more than a few months with use. They are versatile, which I'm anxious to try as a steamer and a cookie baking sheet. So far my need has been splatter control and they are working perfectly

Functional and pretty!
Loving my multi functional splatter guards! Great for draining, preventing splatter in the microwave and the different colors are very fun! Haven't tried to use as a baking sheet yet but so great that I can

I got it covered
What a very useable, multitasking, very simple device. These are way better than another splatter screen I've ever used and you can bake on them! You've just got to love silicone

Incredibly versatile tools for kitchen
I love my splatter guards and they do so much more than just stop the splatters! I bought them because I was tired of the metal splatter guards that kept getting rusty and were so hard to clean. But they have so many more uses. I refuse to use any sort of plastic wrap or plastic containers in the microwave so was often searching for something to cover food in the microwave. These work perfectly! The small grill pan in my convection oven gets so dirty and is hard to clean- now I bake things on my splatter guard. Keeps things from splattering in the oven. Cool hands make it very useful as strainer...the uses go on and on. Easy to clean and can pop in the dishwasher. I love them!

Fantastic and versatile
I absolutely love this set. The larger screen fits beautifully on top of my 12" skillet, and I have used both sizes as baking sheets as well. The smaller size is perfect for using in my countertop "toaster" oven. I also used the small one recently when I baked an apple tart. The tart pan has a removable bottom, and no handles, so baking it on top of the small splatter screen gave me handles to grab without messing up my tart crust, and a secure bottom so I could move it in and out of the oven, and later, into the fridge. Great product! I've never been disappointed in any Kuhn Rikon product, and this one is no exception.

steams meats
When I saw these at the store in Santa Barbara, CA , I bought two sets; one for myself and one for my daughter. However, I was incredibly disappointed. These covers certain contain the splatters from my grill pan but the design holds in the moisture---result--steamed steak, chicken, pork chops.
I would guess these make good lids for other pans but my only need was for a good splatter screen.

Microwave safe?

The website says that this product is microwave safe, but the cover is made of metal. Won't this cause a spark and possibly fire in the microwave
A shopper on Oct 6, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Protect your stovetop from messy hot oil and liquid splatters. Sturdy, steel-encased-silicone splatter screens are perfectly sized to fit over a variety of pots and pans. Silicone handles allow you to easily remove the screens without burning yourself. While it is true that there is steel in the screen, it is safe because the steel is completely encased in silicone, similar to many microwave soup containers that, even though they are made of metal, there is no metal exposed to cause a spark in the microwave
Is it BPA free?
A shopper on Jul 26, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, these are BPA free.
Will this splatter screen work for the 14" fry pan ?
Theresa O on Jan 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Theresa:

The two I purchased are round. One is 12 ½ inches the other is 10 inches. No, I don't think the larger would work for a 14 inch fry pan. I do really like mine and the larger one works for my 12 inch skillet.

I like them very much--previously I used those that had screen wire which was VERY difficult to clean after frying something like bacon. I do not fry bacon any more--I bake it in the oven one pound at a time on a wire rack nestled in a sheet tray. Way better and so much easier to clean up.

If anything these silicone screens could be perforated more and have more openings so not to steam anything.

Hope this helps.
