ABOUT BURGUNDY CLAY
Burgundy clay evenly and slowly diffuses cooking heat to the very center of the cooking dish. Food is cooked evenly, which brings out the flavors and aromas. Burgundy clay has superior heat retention properties that keep food hot and more flavorsome when resting on the dining table or on a kitchen sideboard.

FREEZER TO OVEN
Everything from Emile Henry can go directly from freezer to oven. Their cookware exhibits extraordinary thermal-shock properties. Plus, it’s safe under the broiler and in the microwave.

EXTRAORDINARILY DURABLE POTTERY
Emile Henry clay cooking vessels resist chip and cracks. You can even cut directly on the surface without scratching or damaging the finish.

EASY TO CLEAN
The surfaces do not trap and hold baked on or burnt food. Cleaning is remarkably easy. All Emile Henry products can go in the dishwasher.

EXPERTLY GLAZED
There is no lead or cadmium in their products; all of the glazes are 100% food safe. Offered in a large variety of colors, the glazes will not craze, discolor or fade over time.

Great for pizza and baking bread
This is simply a great pizza stone. I have been using mine for over a year now and it seems to just get better with age.

It heats evenly and stays nice and hot. One of the keys to a great pizza crust is a very hot surface that will cook quickly. The Emile Henry pizza stone does this very well. I also use mine to bake all kinds of bread.

The glaze makes a great no stick surface and it is very easy to clean.

Its a bit more expensive than some other pizza/baking stones but its well worth it.

Cheers

Agree with everything the previous reviewer said
I just wanted to add that even after about a year of regular use, it still looks great thanks to the color and glaze. My previous stone was fine--though thicker and more cumbersome--but the worst part was the discoloration of the untreated stone. This one continues to looks as good as it works
