Worth Every Cent - Comes with Care Pamplet
I bought this a few weeks back (on sale) and can already tell you this:

1. It's extremely tough and the features are solid (nice handle size and position)
2. It cooks and cleans up well
3. It's one of the most versatile pieces of kit I own.

The dimensions are great for roasts, chicken, large qty. soups, etc. I have yet to deep fry in it - but I don't doubt that it will excel there too. Mine came with a short care pamphlet - not sure what the other folks are talking about - to rate this 3-stars for not having the care pamphlet would be like me rating their mother a 3 for not teaching you how to look up ""dutch oven care"" on the internet

Great French Oven
I've used my Sur La Table French (Dutch) Oven three times now and it cooks beautifully. I've braised chicken, made pot roast and Coq Au Vin. All delicious. All the benefits of the French made pot, but at a great deal

Exactly as described.
I have zero complaints. This Dutch oven is not only solid and made well, but it's also pretty enough that I just leave it ""stored"" on my stovetop.

I use it to roast chicken and beef roasts often. It seals heat so well that the first couple of times I used it, I was shocked how fast my meals cooked -- far faster than the recipes called for. The lid does allow for better basting: the meat always comes out moist and delicious.

The 8 qt size is really amazing. Last night I was able to fit and roast a 13 lb turkey in it, using a narrow bed of vegetable as the ""rack."" It WAS heavy going into the oven, with the Dutch oven, the 13 lb bird, and the fluid I had added. But the turkey was done in about 2 hours and it came out perfect.

The blue enamel is exactly as pictured. It's a nice bright cobalt blue. The interior cleans up easily, with just a swish of hot water and a sponge.

I'm not a gadgets type of cook and don't buy a lot of specialty cookware. I shopped around a lot before I bought this particular oven. And I'm glad I did. It's about as perfect as it could be --so I bought one for my mom too

Great buy
I have always wanted a BIG enamel cast iron oven (french? dutch?) but the prices are generally prohibitive. This was such a good buy and the quality is the same as other well-known brands. I really love it, and the blue is the bright blue I was looking for

I LOVE MY OVAL DUTCH OVEN
I've been wanting one of this dutch ovens for along time. I finally bought myself a Christmas present that I knew I would love. There isn't anything that I don't like about it. The color blue is perfect, it's the same blue that they have pictured, not a dark blue or midnight blue. It's perfect for all kinds of cooking. In the month and a half that I've had it I've made soups, roast, cooked bacon in it. It's perfect

"Good, Except Color"
I'm generally happy with this product's value, but I think it's important for shoppers to know that the blue color is not even close to what the photos show. The actual blue is so dark that it's nearly black, and would be more accurately called ""midnight"". There's no way the photos are correct without some kind of photo shop color magic. I am actually going to exchange for red because black doesn't work with my kitchen

Good features at a Good Price
While this Chinese import has several nice features such as the oven-safe knob, large carry handles and braising spikes under lid, we felt it remiss of Sur La Table to send it without a use and care brochure, especially when it is a gift for a novice cook. It is a good value for the price and the enamel colors are lovely
