kitchen staple
This pan provides all the traditional virtues of cast iron frying in an elegant and functional package. The pan did not show any tendency to stick even when new out of the box, and with use has become non-stick in effect, requiring very little oil. So far clean up has been only with a paper towel on the cooking surface with an occasional splash of tap water. The exterior has the depth of finish of a fine pottery glaze and has required some detergent and gentle scrubbing, but at six months it still has its new car shine as it makes its appearance for the next round of frying

Works as great as it looks!
Perfect size for larger pieces of meat or multiple servings. The grenadine color is spectacular. The handle is comfy, the helper handle makes it easier to move around or take to the sink, and the pour spouts make it easy to pour off any fat or juices to ensure a good hard sear. Great addition to any kitchen

Love it
The ten inch Staub skillet in Grenadine is spectacular, fast becoming my favorite pan. Good size for cooking for two. Heats up a bit slowly due to thickness of enamel, but cooks beautifully. Tarte Tatin releases flawlessly when inverted. Southern cornbread took fifteen minutes of rest to then release with all the under crust intact. Food residues come off easily if the pan is allowed to soak for a few minutes first. I do take care not to heat shock it, not to bang it about, and not to use metal implements in it. Small amount of care, large amount of cooking pleasure.

I have a couple of Staub pieces and love them. I got this for my son who uses it for steaks, chops and fish. He sent me texts of food he has cooked in this and calls the pan da bomb.

12 inch is a practical size for sautéing. Love grenadine color. Excited about low maintenance enameled surface compared to having to season raw cast iron.

My Lodge was getting rusty and my eggs had black specks on the bottom every time I used it. Totally frustrated, I threw it out last night and decided to buy a Staub enameled cast iron skilled. I have one other Staub cast iron piece and I love it. I was surprised and thrilled when it was on sale. I just wish I knew if it came with a lid. I spent an hour trying to find a lid on the website searching under everything I could think of.
Elaine B on Apr 7, 2015

I was so pleased with the other Staub items I have purchased recently that this was the next logical purchase for me. I know this will be a definite improvement on the many previous skillets I have purchased in the past. All the Staub products do NOT disappoint, quality and craftsmanship you cannot find anywhere else! Worth the money. Thanks Sur La Table for carrying such quality items!

Cast iron, black matte, anti-adhesive, pre-seasoned interior finish paired with that lovely grenadine-colored exterior glaze is a show-stopper from stovetop or oven to tabletop. This piece is heirloom quality. It cooks well, cleans easily, and beats its french rival L- C------ in all aspects. You could spend less and go all-American with L----, but based on my last 17 years using Staub, I have no post-purchase regrets. Bonus: I've never had to fuss with special cleaning and seasoning rituals.

whats the difference between the marine and the grenadine skillet?
A shopper on Jan 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Only the color - a deep red for the grenadine, and a blue for the marine. The rest is the same. It all depends on the kitchen you want to match it with. Be aware that Staub does other pots and pans, and once you get hooked on the enameled cast iron concept, you may not resist buying other, so pick the color you like.
