Classic Margarita
Serves
Makes 1 serving
Ingredients
  • 2 oz. tequila
  • ¾ oz. fresh lime juice
  • ½ oz. Cointreau
  • ½ oz. agave nectar

Procedure
Nothing quenches quite like an authentic margarita—and this is a great recipe to carry you from Cinco de Mayo all the way through summer.

Add tequila, fresh lime juice, agave and Cointreau to a cocktail shaker. Add ice, cover and seal then shake for 5–10 seconds. Strain or fine strain into a rocks glass and top with fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.

If you wish to salt the rim of the glass, pour some salt onto a small plate or into a bowl. Simply run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass and lightly dip the edge into the salt and rotate the glass on its side, trying to coat the outside rim more than the inside, until it is salted to your liking. Rimming half of the glass is also a common and cool-looking thing to do.
