We traveled to Japan to create a revolutionary line of cutlery— Shun Elite is the result. Blades begin with a unique core of SG2 powdered metal that’s hardened to 64-66 Rockwell (compared to the 56-58 Rockwell of most kitchen knives). This gives each blade an exceedingly sharp, smooth edge. Then it’s clad with two layers of SUS410—a softer stainless steel that provides strength, flexibility and corrosion protection. Handcrafted in Seki City, Japan, the center of samurai tradition, the Elite’s design is inspired by ancient samurai swords. Hand wash. Lifetime warranty. Unique ergonomic design of this chef’s knife reduces fatigue and provides precise cutting, from slicing meat to dicing and chopping vegetables. Wide blade for scooping and deep curvature for maximum rocking action.

KAI Corporation is a 99-year-old family-owned company located in Seki City, Japan. It is completely privately held, and is run by Mr. Koji Endo. He is the third generation to run the company. KAI is the major manufacturer and distributor of disposable razors, surgical tools, personal care products and housewares in Japan.
The Shun Housewares Division was started in December of 2002. At that time, there were no established sales and only 13 items in the Shun Line. Today, the housewares team has built the division to its high position of prominence in the gourmet cutlery category.
KAI is also the owner of the famous US-made Kershaw pocket knives. |
