Classic Sangria
A refreshing way to start a summer dinner.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup simple syrup, equal parts sugar and water
- 2 bottles Spanish red wine
- 3/4 cup brandy
- 1/2 cup Triple Sec
- 3/4 cup orange juice
- 2 oranges, sliced into thin rounds
- 2 ripe peaches
- 2 green apples, cored and sliced thin
- 2 lemons, sliced into thin rounds
- Fresh mint
Procedure
- In a small saucepan, add the water and sugar. Set temperature to medium-high and bring sugar-water to a boil. Keep boiling until all the sugar dissolves into a clear syrup. This takes about 10 minutes.
- Combine all fruits, brandy and Triple Sec in a large pitcher. Let stand for 8-24 hours.
- Add all remaining ingredients and refrigerate, covered, for 2 hours or up to 2 days.
- Serve over ice in a tall glass garnished with a fresh sprig of mint.
