Additional Information
Founders Kristin and Johannes Frey operate Churncraft in southern Connecticut, where they assemble each churn by hand with their two daughters, Jojo and Kiki. Kristin grew up on a farm in the Hudson Valley where she raised and milked her own cow, Tranquility. A vintage glass churn in which she made butter became the inspiration for their flagship product.

The churn features parts that are custom-made in the USA and around the world. The heart of the churn is the German-made precision gears that provide three full paddle rotations for each turn of the crank—a good balance of speed and torque power for the job. The square shape optimizes churning action, and the curved wave paddle makes butter quickly and is removable for easy cleaning. The arc handle is designed for a comfortable grip from multiple positions. Children and adults alike will enjoy making butter and watching the gears and paddles move through the blown-glass housing. Churns two quarts of cream into approximately 1.5 to 1.75 lbs. of fresh butter and approximately 3 cups of buttermilk.
