Peanut Butter Jar Oats

By Joel Gamoran

Ingredients

  • ½ cup quick cooking oats
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • Pinch sea salt
  • 1 banana, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp blueberries
  • 1 almost empty jar of peanut butter

Procedure

Scrap Used: Almost-Empty Peanut Butter Jar

Instead of throwing out your nearly-empty jar of peanut butter, rescue the last bits by filling with oatmeal. This can be done with traditional hot oatmeal or overnight oats (oats, almond milk, chia seeds, maple syrup). Both methods can be layered with fruit (bananas, blueberries). Best of all, you can screw on the top and bring it with you, making this the perfect on-the-go breakfast.

Combine oats, milk, maple syrup and sea salt in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly for about 3 minutes until thick. Remove from heat, let stand for about 1 minute.

Layer oatmeal, bananas and blueberries in an almost empty jar of peanut butter.
