By Aysegul Sanford

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. honey simple syrup (recipe follows)
  • 6 leaves of fresh mint, plus more as a garnish
  • 4 oz. vodka
  • 4 oz. pomegranate juice
  • 2 oz. orange juice
  • 2 slices of fresh oranges, as a garnish
  • A handful of pomegranate arils, as a garnish
  • Honey simple syrup: ½ cup honey, ½ cup water

Procedure

To make the honey simple syrup: Place honey and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring it to a boil. Then, turn the heat down to low and let it simmer for 7–8 minutes. When the syrup is reduced and slightly thickened, place it in a small jar and let it come to room temperature before using it. If preferred, you can add in a few fresh leaves of mint to infuse some minty flavors into the simple syrup.

To make the Pomegranate and Orange Vodka Cocktail: Place honey simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Muddle mint leaves until fully melted. Add in the vodka, pomegranate juice, orange juice, and ice. Put the lid on and give it a shake. Place two rock glasses with ice and pour the drink into the glasses. Garnish with fresh mint, orange slices, and fresh mint leaves. Serve.
