WHITE CERAMIC COFFEE FILTER
I had checked on line to see if these coffee filters were in my local Sur La Table store. It said they were not in stock. so I order it on line. The shipping was about $6.00 per filter. I really wanted it. I ended up with the wrong size so I returned it to the store only to find they had the one I wanted and always carried it in the store. I lost my ship charges but I did end up with the filter I wanted.

Didn't fit our mugs
We decided to return these. The rim on the bottom of the cone did not securely fit any of our assorted mugs. In addition, there are 4 very large holes. We were afraid the coffee would just flow through without adequate time to brew.

Prefer ceramic over plastic and have wanted one. Gift certificate made it possible. Usually only make 1 cup at a time.

Is this supposed to fit all mugs? I just received mine and the rim underneath is the same size as my mugs so it won't stay on.
BEST ANSWER: Although these are standard sized, they don't necessarily fit all mugs.

Is the diameter for the area that rests on the coffee cup 3.5 for the #2 Cone?
BEST ANSWER: I have the larger version with 4 holes in the bottom. There are quite a few dimensions.....
TOP diameter: 5 and 5 1/2". It is slightly oval and this is NOT an overall measurement (does not include the handle)
largest width (including the handle): 6 1/2"
BASE: 5"
Raised rim on base (the part that keeps it on your cup): 3 1/2"
HEIGHT: 4"
This works well on a large mug. I use both 21 and 18 oz mugs (Fiestaware Jumbo mug) and it works perfectly. A #4 filter works in mine, although a #2 would work if you pour the water carefully. I use generic filters (Costco) and wet them slightly then let them fold just a bit into the bottom of the cone to prevent ripping. This makes a great cup of coffee!

What is the best grind to use ?
BEST ANSWER: I'd recommend medium-fine. Remember, you'll be using this with a coffee filter, so something slightly finer than what you'd use in a drip machine is perfect.
Fortunately, because you're controlling the pour by hand, anywhere from medium to fine is probably ok - doesn't need to be exact.

Does this company make a #6 filter size? If not who?
BEST ANSWER: No, these filters only come in the #2 & #4 size. I wasn't able to find anyone that makes a stoneware #6 filter

Do all the larger #4 filter cones have four holes?
BEST ANSWER: Mine has three holes. I don't use it very often but when I do it works well. First I heat my mug and the filter in hot water...keeps coffee hotter longer.

is this able to sit directly on top of the large hario glass server? (800ml)
Will the #4 fit a 6 cup melitta glass coffee pot?
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure if it will fit specifically, but I can tell you that the OUTSIDE diameter of the bottom ring (it fits within the opening of a receptacle & is not visible in the photos), is 3 & 5/8". So if the INSIDE diameter of the opening of your Melitta pot is that size or larger, I'd say your good go!
