My 4th 7qt Mixer and the best
I've had 3 7qt mixers for over 35 years. When I was looking for a mixer to replace my last one I thought I'd give this one a try. I do a lot of heavy mixing with fresh ground WW flour. What surprised me was the difference in the batters for cakes and cookies and again for the yeast breads using the same recipes as usual. It had plenty of power. the other reason I bought it was it's made in the states and hopefully can get it repaired when there is a problem.

An amazing machine
I purchased the Pro Line Kitchenaid stand mixer after having outgrown my 4 1/2 quart ultra power stand mixer. Before purchasing this stand mixer I purchased another model that I was very unhappy with due to the sounds and smells the motor was making. The strength of these other mixers also did not seem good. This mixer, however, is completely different. It's quiet and smooth. The mixer can handle many of the high hydration, low hydration, and stiff doughs that I've used it for. It seems very well made. I highly recommend this stand mixer to anyone who is a serious cook or baker. This mixer is unlike the other Kitchenaid mixers that are currently being sold

Quiet, powerful, solid
I like everything about this mixer (I also own the 575 model so I can make comparisons). It's amazingly quiet, powerful, stable. It plows through everything I've done with it-pasta, cakes, cookies, croissants, English muffins, pizza dough, etc. There isn't anything I don't like about it.

This is a great mixer!!
I have been making marshmallows on my 5 qt Artisan for 10 years. In May, it began having problems. I have needed a bigger mixer for quite a while, so I upgraded to the 7 quart. What a difference! It is quieter and allows me to make double batches of marshmallows easily. The marshmallows come out fluffier and take less time to whip. I did have to get used to the much stronger motor and shorter beating time

Bigger bowl - more power
This is my 3rd Kitchenmaid stand mixer. The larger bowl is a plus and will easily handle double recipe cookies. The motor is more quiet than earlier versions and this one does not wobble when handling stiff bread dough. Paddle and whip are a different size to accommodate the bowl. All attachments to the hub are universal and work terrific.

So happy...
This mixer does everything I imagined and then some. My pizza dough is better than most pizzerias I have been to in my life. Perfect every time. My daughter loves the cookies I make now as well.

Love this mixer...

Excellent except for handling small quantities
I found the paddle attachment with a silicone edge a necessity because I didn't want to keep scraping down the bowl when mixing. Works fine except when mixing 1 lb room temperature butter, some of the the butter walks up the silicone edge and then forms a ring around the bowl at the top edge of the paddle attachment. So I wind up having to scrap the side of the bowl as well as the silicone edge of the paddle attachment.

Professional chef approves
We bought this stand mixer for a chef at an arts foundation; the one she "inherited" 12 years ago never worked and we felt she deserved a replacement. In short order she used it for the annual holiday party mixing up several dips and then for the 13 artist residents communal meal, used it for making whipped potatoes. She is extremely pleased with it. We hope that it will last for many years of service.

America’s Test Kitchen gave this model a top review for use and durability. The Classic Plus was also in contention, but I’ve seen reviews noting that it’s whisk attachment can have a problem. I normally hand mix and hand knead, but with arthritis developing in my hands and neck I know this will be a great help and should stand up over time.

I've been using this for about a month. The mixer makes a high-pitched noise when it's running. Also, on speeds higher than 2, it makes a clicking noise. Is this normal?
Jodie W on Jun 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: According to KitchenAid Customer Service, the clicking noise is normal, but the high pitched noise is not.
Are there any smaller size bowls that are compatable with this model?
laurie S on Aug 18, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have this model and there are smaller bowls available. Call kitchenaid and they will send you the link on their website.

What is the difference between this 6500 mixer and the Pro-Line 7 quart. Besides the capacity, what is the difference between the two? Trying to decide whether the price difference is worth it.

KitchenAid® Pro Line® Stand Mixer, 7 qt.
KitchenAid® 6500 Series Stand Mixer, 6 qt.
KitchenAid® 6500 Series Stand Mixer, 6 qt.
BEST ANSWER: I see 3 differences between the two mixers. The 6500 has 1. horse power and a smaller bowl which is glass. The Proline 7 qt. has 1.3 horsepower, the larger stainless steel bowl (which I like) and it also comes with a 2 yr. warranty, which is always good. I'm happy my Proline mixer. Hope this helps you.
Can you please verify the maximum width by measuring it?

Other sources and versions of this 7qt mixer are actually not that wide. 13.25"" wide will not fit on my mixer lift
A shopper on Nov 27, 2012
BEST ANSWER: The verified dimensions of this 7-qt. mixer are as follows.; 16" h x 14" l x 13" w.
I have a really hard time getting the bowl in place. It takes a lot of force to set the bowl into the bowl support once the bowl is lined up with the pins. Is this normal and will it get easier with more use?
Candice on Sep 5, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Candice, I had this exact problem - and actually considered returning the mixer. It did get MUCH easier with use (in fact I forgot about this problem until I read your query.
I wish to know if this mixer could come with 220 volts electric engine instead of 110 volts? I dont live in USA and I dont want to use an external transformer for power supply. Thanks.
Mariela on Sep 20, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, this mixer is only available in 110V.
Does Sur la Table include the pouring shield? I've seen other stores that have included it but don't see it listed here.
Amy S on Oct 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We received the shield when we ordered the stand mixer. It was included.
Do the available whisk attachments work for this mixer?

Will any of the whisk attachments offered on the site fit this mixer?
A shopper on Oct 27, 2012
BEST ANSWER: This mixer comes with a wire wire whip attachment in addition to a flat beater and a dough hook. There are currently no additional attachments available for this mixer and the ones listed on this site are not interchangeable with any Kitchen Aide. They will only work on the KitchenAid KSM90 and K45 Stand Mixers.
Can I get a glass bowl for this mixer? If not can I get an extra stainless steel bowl for my Kitchenaid Pro line mixer?
Judy D on Jul 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi Judy - I purchased a Pro line after lovingly (and extensively) using my standard Kitchen Aid mixer for years (which I gave away to a woman's shelter - still powerful and fabulous - just not big enough for me!) - I purchased an additional bowl after about one year as I found I needed two bowls frequently. I do not know about a glass bowl and would guess they do not make such a bowl due to the weight/likelihood of breakage. Hope this helps. Clare S.
I am highly interested in purchasing a KitchenAid Mixer - especially the Pro Line, but I after research and reading reviews, I am very weary of getting one that makes clicking noises. Does the one you purchased from Sur La Table make the clicking noise? Were you able to resolve it?
Gauri S on Aug 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Well.... Unfortunately not. Sorry to say! I exchanged it once due to clicking, but the second one couldn't be aligned correctly and the wisk hit the edge of the bowl. I had owned the 4.5 qt size for 22 years that was always reliable and wanted to pass it to me daughter. So I opted to purchase a 5 qt artisan model and it's been great.
Hi, does it beat white egg easily in a sense that usually the whip turns to far from the bowl and the egg is almost not touched ? thanks
A shopper on Jan 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have not had any problem whipping 4 or more egg whites. But for one or two egg whites I would recommend the kitchenaid 3.5 qt. I purchased this and find I use it a lot for small batches of cookies, cakes and beating one or two egg whites. I also use the spiralizer on the smaller mixer.
Where can I get another flat beater attachment for this mixer?
A shopper on May 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: My best advice is to go directly to the KitchenAid website and look for attachments from the "Stand Mixer" link. It is possible that a kitchen store which carries this item, like "Sur la Table", would also have the attachment available.
Can you knead pasta with the Pro Line Stand Mixer?
A shopper on May 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely! I find that it makes the entire process much easier than kneading by hand. I find the most effective way is the begin mixing with the paddle then change to the dough hook once the dough starts to come together.
Can I mix bread dough with this mixer?
A shopper on Dec 8, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely! This is what this mixer was designed for. Whether high hydration or low hydration, this mixer is fantastic. Just be sure to knead on stir or #2 and pay attention to your dough and the machine. The motor is very quiet and the machine is unlike any Kitchenaid mixer currently being sold
What is the warranty?
A shopper on Sep 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It has a 5 yr. warranty.
Will this 7 qt. stand mixer become available in any other colors?
A shopper on Oct 3, 2012
BEST ANSWER: As you can see now yes

A shopper on Jul 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don’t know about models/colors other than the silver, 7 qt., Pro-Line model that I purchased. It’s very rugged and can handle any bakery mixing job you wish to throw at it. Plus, it comes tested, inspected, analyzed, compared and whatever else scrutinizers can dream up to challenge this tools ability to get the job done!
