Nice to have a choice in size of slices
We like this quite a bit. Recommend cutting a small slice from the bottom of the apple to make it easier to use. Also use care removing any fruit that remains on the device. it is VERY sharp - as it should be.

Easy to use
I bought this apple corer on an impulse a few months ago and I'm glad I did. it's easy to use and clean, and feels durable. It's a great time saver tool. Very happy with this purchase

One of a kind !
Very difficult to find an apple slicer with the tray to finish cutting the bottom of the apple. Added bonus, it has 2 sizes, 8 slices or 16 slices.

There is a learning curve
This is a super neat gadget. You have to learn how to use it though. The small end of the apple needs to be at the bottom always. You need to learn how to slide the blades open to clean it afterwards which is easy once you figure it out. A little tricky. The apple slices are perfect once you learn how to use the base to push the bottom part of the apple through--it took me 4 or 5 times to realize that pressure is evenly applied if you use the base that comes with the tool and not a plate. Due to complexity, I only gave it 4 stars. Otherwise, it is truly a 4. I use mine 3+ times a week.

Useful item as I like to slice apples. I use it daily and enjoy the dishwasher capabity of it. It stores easily and the cover snaps on quickly.

I do not like this.
I thought a choice of different sizes for apple slicing was a good idea. I would rather pay for a complete separate one that did 16 slices than this one with the dial to change the slice sizes. The metal slicers were weak and did bend. Also, it was not as easy to clean as the old slicer I already have. I gave it to my sister but she has not reported how she liked it. I told her if she didn't like it to just throw it away cause I sure didn't want it back.

THE best apple slicer ever
The picture shows what nice bite-size pieces this slicer makes. It is hefty, and very sharp. When adding apple slices to a lunch bag, I like to sprinkle them with cinnamon to camouflage the natural browning of the apples.

A gimmick. Useless
Requires a LOT of strength to use. Waste of money. Faster to slice apples by hand with a knife.

Even if you have to peel the apple first this gadget is a great time saver: also cuts the apple up very tidily with very little wastage. I eat more apples thanks to this product.

chose because of the 8 and 16 slice option AND the bottom guard allows for a full and complete cut through the apple without hurting your fingers as you push the last part through! this is the only one on the market like this!!!!

Jeff B on Nov 20, 2016
I want to make thinner slices of apples for a pie.
Alfreda M on Nov 11, 2016
Mixed feelings. The adjustable blade is not flush to the other blade. So when you slice you end with pieces of apple caught in-between. You get messy slivers.
Erwin G on Nov 10, 2016
should be a great short cut to slicing apples for pie.
Bessie B on Nov 9, 2016
I recently pulled my old one out of the kitchen drawer-an oldie but goodie- but it's definitely needing to be replaced-this one appears to be well designed and made, more info. later after we've had an opportunity to use it...

James M on Sep 22, 2016
hoped it would help with pie prep. Arthritis makes me less likely to do things that hurt. It helps. Still have to peel, but...it's less work.
Lisa B on Sep 15, 2016
other one broke
TAMMARA M on Sep 10, 2016
Tool allows for 16 narrower slices as well as the usual 8 wider ones. We enjoy apple and cheese as an appetizer quite often and the narrow option will be better for this. I also relied on reviewers' comments and ratings. Another brand of a similar tool from another well-known upscale kitchen retailer received just two stars from multiple customers. This one at Sur la Table received five stars from all reviewers.
LINDA S on Aug 25, 2016
The only dial-a-slice apple slicer... I use it for apple pies and cutting apples to serve with peanut butter for snacks.

Marie B on Nov 27, 2017
What is the number of slices with each increment of width?
A shopper on Dec 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The picture is accurate for the smaller slices. I like this size best for packing in lunches. I think I would slice the apple by hand, to make them even thinner for pies, plus peel them first.
Can you use this with apples already peeled?
Roberta G on Feb 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. The apple slicer can be used to slice in either 8 or 16 pieces, with both peeled and unpeeled apples. Just place the slicer, evenly over the middle of the apple and press down using the flange sides of the slicer.
