Easy-to-use Cookie Press
Unlike 3 other cookie presses that I have owned, this cookie press surpasses them all with its ease of use. I've made 9 batches of cookies, so far, using the butter spritz cookie recipe that was included with the press. I've used a flower disk from the original cookie press, followed by the pumpkin, spider, spider web, and leaf disks from the Autumn disk set. All came out perfectly. I do recommend increasing the extract in the recipe. I added almond extract to the vanilla extract in the recipe. I also used orange extract plus grated orange rind, instead of the vanilla and/or almond extract/s. I've tinted both the icing and the dough to make Halloween cookies.
The cookie press did not tire my hand, and as long as I allowed the cookie a second to adhere to the cookie sheet, each cookie came out cleanly. Each batch of the recipe made approximately 142-163 cookies, depending on which disk was used. The press was easy to take apart and clean when I was finished.
I am looking forward to making lots of Christmas cookies using this cookie press. I am hoping that other ""seasonal"" cookie disks will be made available, following the Autumn disk set, although the original set that comes with the press has plenty of shapes, ie. a pine tree, a wreath, a snowflake, etc. that can be used for holiday cookies. I also would love it if another cookie dough tube would become available so that making different colored cookies with different colored doughs could be used without having to wash the one tube, first, before switching colors. I have discovered, however, that multi-colored swirly cookies can be made easily by adding balls of different colored, left-over dough to the cookie tube. Cookies, such as fall leaves, came out looking so pretty with orange and yellow, and sometimes red all in the same leaf.
I have already bought a second cookie press, plus the Autumn disk set for my daughter, who is also enjoying using it. She made batches of spiders, webs, and leaves for her daughter's school class, and as a treat for her fellow office-mates.
I am planning on buying a second cookie press for myself. I will then be able to double the amount of cookies I can make, using more than one color of dough, without waiting to totally use up one color of dough first.
I highly recommend this cookie press to anyone who enjoys making a variety of cookies. It also is a great way to enjoyably pass the time by sharing cookie-making with children and grandchildren

Delightful Dispenser
I am not the best at rolling cookies but this product make lovely cookies without strsesing me out. I made whole wheat spritz cookies from the Paper, ribbon & Ink recipe and they were great. I dispensed the cookies onto parchment paper which made for quick rotations of my cooke sheets without having to wash between. I used the Christmas tree & snowflake discs, but am looking forward to the Fleur de lis and heart products early next year. Buy this product

Professional quality makes it easy to use
In my life, I have owned three other cookie presses, but never one as nice to use as this one. The booklet gives easy to understand directions on how to fill and use it, and it makes very neat cookies with little effort. No dough leaked out from anywhere, which was my main complaint with other brands of cookie presses. It comes with a dozen cute design disks, and it is made of high quality materials, as well as being easy to clean. Very glad I bought this.

So disappointing! This was the first kind of cookie I made as a child, and I was drawn in by the good reviews. I also loved the extra shapes you could buy esp. the spring flowers, and I had visions of making basketfuls of roses and sunflower for spring holidays. I'm an experienced cookie maker, and I found it very hard to get nicely shaped cookies out of this press. The dough was too cold or too soft, the pressed-out cookies stuck to the disk or had pieces missing, and all in all it was too much work to get the small number of pretty cookies that came out. A cookie press is supposed to let you make a lot of cookies without a lot of effort. It would have been better to get out my cookie cutters!

Very tiny, flat cookies
I love spritz cookies and have made them for decades with an old fashioned twist cookie press. This OXO press disappointed me because it produced such small, thin cookies. I would say that the cookies were about 1/2 as thick as I expect spritz cookies to be. Also, don't expect this to work on parchment. It really requires a surface that the cookie dough can adhere to. I did like the discs and the lever actually does work smoothly and easily with room temperature dough. I just can't get passed the size of these super tiny wafer-like cookies. If you don't want a lot of dimension and height with your spritz cookies this might work for you. Personally I'd rather use an old fashioned press or even a pastry bag.

Don"t buy this worthless cookie press
I am attempting to produce cookies from this cookie press and i have to press the lever at least four times to get a cookie out. this is not quick and easy it is time consuming waiting for the cookie shape to be correct. they are not all the same shape due to the constant need to continue to press until a cookie comes out. Some come out fatter than the others and some are skinny...waste of my money and time!!!

Great cookie press. I highly recommend it.
This cookie press is much better than another one I once owned. After reading the Cook's Illustrated review, I decided to give this one a try. The press performed very well, and the cookie designs that came with the press were cute. Bravo!

This stinks, cookies don't release, even with using the recommended recipe.
This stinks. I made one of the recommended recipes for classic spritz from the manual that came with. The cookies didn't come out well formed at all, even after a full sheet of them.

I wouldn’t waste my money!
Terrible cookie press which is shocking for an Oxo product. Dough oozes out, won’t release cookie on sheet and questionably designed. Very poor performance. I use the discs in my old Wilton cookie press which works fine. Still - thirty bucks down the drain!

What recipe do you use for the cookie press?
A shopper on Dec 8, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I used 3 out of the four recipes that are in the book that came with it. Everything came out perfect! It was so easy to use. Love it!
Has anyone found a good gluten free recipe that works in this press?
Sharon B on Mar 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You might want to try King Arthur's "Measure for Measure" gluten-free flour.
My cookies won't cut off and the dough seems to stick to the disk help????
A shopper on Dec 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I would guess it is the consistency of your dough, not the cookie press. Sometimes chilling the dough may help. I do sometimes need to give the press an
extra half squeeze to get the dough "started" but usually only for the first one or two cookies and then it flows really well.
Is this as easy to use as an electric press?
A shopper on Jan 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Very easy. The instructions are included. It's easy to hold and use. You may want to add a half click extra, depending on your dough and preference. Some people have complained about it breaking but I have not found that to be an issue with mine. I am also careful and mindful using it, just to make sure. It's a great product, in my opinion.
Can the cookies thickness be adjusted?
Sonali on Mar 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No it can't be adjusted but the thinness is perfect - not too thin and not too thick
Can you use this product with store bought dough or do you have to make your own? It looks like a lot of fun and i love making holiday cookies but i am in no way a high quality baker and usually use Pillsbury dough
Andrea M on Aug 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I would think so but bring the dough to room temp as it will press out easier. I use the recipe for spritz cookies from a 1975 edition of Joy of Cooking. Only 6 ingredients and as simple as can be. I get rave reviews for my cookies. Really worth the try and very easy.
