Care & Usage Show

  • Allow oven to cool completely before cleaning. Remove stone from oven and clean by running under cool water and brushing away debris with a scrubber. Do not use soap. Remove crumb tray by loosening thumbscrews on the bottom of the unit. Ensure stones have dried completely before using the oven again

Amazing pizza in 5 minutes flat!
This oven will produce some of the best pizza you can possibly make at home!

Heats up quick, runs on the same propane tank that's already hooked up to my grill, and once it's ready, pizzas are done in literally 5 minutes.

The crusts come out super crispy and the toppings aren't soggy like you sometimes get in your indoor oven due to moisture content in the ingredients. You do have to rotate the pizza halfway through to make sure it is browning evenly, but since the whole process only takes 5 minutes, you really don't want to walk away while it's cooking anyway.

The oven doesn't get overly hot on the outside so you don't have to worry about scorching your table. Love the compact size, which makes it easier to store than a full-size grill and you could even take it camping or tailgating easily with a smaller size propane tank and the adaptor.

This is also a much better price than most outdoor ovens which can range in the thousands - of dollars and pounds! Highly recommend for even the amateur pizza chef

best pizza at home
This is the first time I've ever written a review, I felt I had to, this pizza oven is that good. I've tried everything to make crispy, delicious pizza at home, and to be honest, I've achieved it a few times, but it's been a LOT of work and my house gets SO hot...
I'm so glad I tried this, at this price point, I can't believe how well it works. It made our pizzas perfectly in about five to six minutes. Hot, bubbly, crispy and no mushy parts. All I had to do was preheat and turn the pizza halfway through. That was it, so easy.

Better Than Every Other Home Method I've Tried
I like pizza. A lot. For the last five years, it''s been a bit of an obsession with me. I've tried every dough formula (all of the Reinhardt's, traditional bigas, Batali's grill dough, etc), and tried every permutation of quarry stone, baking stone, grill, grill stone, baking steel, etc. imaginable trying to get my oven or my grill to make a perfect pizza. And while I've made some good pies, this little machine beat them all with the first pizza I made.

Using the included dough recipe (a ridiculously simple Tipo 00 with an overnight rise in the fridge), I got some amazing results. Perfect hint of char on the bottom, perfect blisters on top, and as even of a cook as I ever got out of my stove. The crust had a crisp crunch and a perfect chew, and held the toppings of all four pizzas I made the first night very well. The wife and kids (and the neighbor who stopped by) all agreed it was the absolute best they'd had.

As far as the equipment, it assembled quickly and easily - 10 minutes plus another 5 to set it up outside and check the hose connections for leaks (I'm a safety freak). I was amazed at how little ambient heat radiated from the bottom of the unit - I wouldn't worry at all about having this on a outdoor patio table. It took about 20 minutes to reach 625 or 650 on the thermometer, and I baked 4 10 to 12 inch pizzas in rather rapid succession with no degradation in quality.

I'm looking forward to experimenting with this over the coming months (including during the cold winter months, when I worry about how it will maintain heat even when used in the garage) ... but so far, so good. This is looking like one of the best birthday presents I've ever received

This oven lives up to its promise
I just purchased the Pizzeria Pronto and tried it out for the first time. I was skeptical that this oven could live up to the promise, but it did! I cooked three pizzas for my family right off the bat and each one not only tasted great, but also had a great texture. It is definitely worth the money. I look forward to future pizza parties

Real information on product
I am culinary trained, food focused with a 2800 bottle wine cellar. I travel the world to eat, book the best restaurants in the world. Bottom line - food is my focus. This device is solves a lot of problems for providing an alternative to a full on wood fired stone pizza oven at an incredible price. It is easy to assemble and does what it says. The opening could be larger and the height could be expanded or other food applications, but it does what it represents very well. I use it several times a week. Very good product that does what it says

this pizza oven rocks!
We use it for tailgating and it's a huge hit! the kids (big and small) line up waiting for the crispy pizza to come out of the oven. I have not made the pizza dough recipe from the booklet yet - used store bought and a friend's recipe - worked great. It's also great with the premade flatbread pizza crust - i rotate between the two types and everyone loves them - sugges the peel along with it! fits perfectly!
The only thing you have to watch for is the wind blowing out the flame - I made my husband stand in front of it to block it - but that would happen with any gas run item

Favorite new way to make Pizza!
Pizza is a passion for our family, but let's face it, getting that perfectly crispy crust with the right amount of chew just doesn't happen with most home made methods. Which is why I could not wait for the arrival of our new Pizzeria Pronto. 700+ degree cooking temp? Easy assembly? Easy to use? Pizza in less than 10 minutes? Sign me up!

The first night we used it, we had a intimate family dinner of about 20 (BIG Family!) and WOW what amazing results. Every single pizza was crispy and perfectly cooked with just one turn during the cooking process. The temperature and cook time stayed even throughout the evening's cooking, and we got a restaurant quality pizza every single time. Needless to say, the whole family loved it!

I highly recommend this product to anyone that is looking for that restaurant quality pizza but doesn't want the hassle or cost of going to a restaurant. It's so easy, and the pizza is so good, there's no need to go out anymore

"Surprisingly Good, exceptional value"
Having moved from using pizza stones on the grill, I can say that this is a significant step up.

The oven heats evenly and the build quality is above average for the price. We've used it 4 times so far for a total of 8 pizzas and absolutely love it.

It cooks the dough perfectly, with one turn during the process, and gets the toppings evenly crispy.

It's easy to use, after you figure out how to slide raw pizza dough off a peel.

I'm now my family's pizza hero
This pizza oven is amazingly cool. For the first time ever, I'm able to make pizzas at home that satisfy my kids. In fact, my son told me the pizza I made was better than the pizza from his favorite pizzeria.

The oven is very simple to put together, and it hooks up to propane tank just like a BBQ grill. Starting it up is a snap, and it gets to full heat in about 10 minutes or so. Mine didn't quite get to 700 degrees, but it got plenty close enough to make an amazingly crisp crust.

You'll definitely need a pizza peel to work with this over because 1) there's no other way to really get the pizza in an out of the over and 2) you'll look really cool with it anyway. :-)

I found that it's necessary to rotate the pizza once or twice while cooking to ensure an even browning around the crust.

I'm really excited to keep experimenting with all sorts of different toppings now that I'm an official pizza man

Great Great Pizza Oven!
Three weeks ago I accidentally stumbled on this oven while looking at a cadre of new products on the internet. After viewing the available videos I knew I had to get one.

I've been making pizza on the grill over 10 years and when you want to make 6-8 pizza's for your friends it is a big hassle to partially cook the dough on one side, flip the dough and partially cook in on the other side to bring it back to the table to add the toppings and then put it back on the grill to melt the cheese.

I have my own dough recipe that has been very successful and continue to use. If you are fermenting your dough (recommended) in the refrigerator (up to 3 days prior to use) make sure you take it out and bring it to room temperature for the best results.

Like others we have found that less is more. My assistant put way too much toppings on a few pies and it was a struggle to cook them properly.....

I purchased a steel pizza peel for turning and removing the pies. I happen to think the steel is more effective on the way out because it is thinner.

In the 3 weeks we have been using the outdoor oven, we have made at least 18-20 pizzas and additionally we have also have been very successful making calzone and stromboli.

Now I can't make pizzas fast enough!

BEST ANSWER: For a thin crust pizza, you will want to turn your oven all the way up to high. This will give your oven an ambient temperature of 700° and a stone temp of about 500. Cook it for about 5 minutes and be sure to turn it halfway through.

BEST ANSWER: We had this problem too. The key is a TON of cornmeal on the peel, more than you would think. Also, it comes off better when the dough is room temperature instead of cold.

BEST ANSWER: The pizza oven is easy to KEEP clean. I use parchment paper cut to the size of the pizza. I am able to use the same piece for several pizzas. However, I would not wash the oven parts. Instead, we leave the oven on full heat for a bit after we are done baking to burn off debris. Prior to cooking it is necessary to have the oven thoroughly preheated and it gets up to 700 degrees, so I feel comfortable with the process. The stone cooking surface is very porous, and submersion in water would probably be a disaster. We have cold winters here, and so only use this in spring & summer weather. It has been a lot of fun, especially when we have a gathering of people over. It is also a fun family activity, with lots of chatting and laughing while we assemble and bake multiple pizzas / calzones so we have leftovers for later. We have probably used ours 30+ times over the past two summers and it is holding up well.
Where is the propane tank? I have a gas grill and charcoal BBQ...what then?

BEST ANSWER: Sur La Table describes in the Pizzeria Outdoor Pizza Oven features that the Oven runs on propane, and that the tank is not included. I believe this is customary with most grills etc., Postal and shipping companies don"t like to ship tanks. In case, there may be something in the tank. Neither do moving companies!!
You must have natural gas on you barbeque. So you need to buy a small propane tank to hook up this little fellow!!! Then he will work for you!! Enjoy! Cheers Trish
Is the pizza better than that cooked on a weber?

I am using the Peter Reinhardt recipes and cooking pizza on my Weber with a pizza stone. It takes about 5 - 6 at 550 600 with all three burners on high. Will this product do better and be an improvement?

BEST ANSWER: Absolutely! Did you notice that sometimes the cheese and toppings aren't complete even when your crust is done??? That was always my biggest pet peeve with pizza on the BBQ. This device totally eliminates that issue. Also, it took forever on a BBQ for our stone to reach the right temp and then after the first pizza, our stone temp never got way up again. This is not an issue at all with this propane pizza cooker
One reviewer complained about how difficult it is to get pizza on and off the peels. Is this true?

BEST ANSWER: It can be difficult if you’re not careful to flour the pizza peel before use. We’ve also found that using fine semolina works better than regular baking flour. Actually putting the dough on the flour on the peel and then adding the toppings works best. Having a drier sauce prevents the pizza getting soggy in the middle. Finally you need one of those very wide metal, preferably longer handled pizza spatulas to slide it off and on to the pizza stone in the oven
We live in Anchorage, Alaska. Can we keep this outside year-round or do we need to store it inside? Can we use this outside in the winter?

First, we love this little gadget works quite nicely.
You are able to buy a sturdy cover for the over for about $30. Should be all you need.
As to cooking in the winter, I would not know since we live in the desert. It does get quite hot with proper warm up though and the opening for the pizza is somewhat small. I would bet it would work fine.
Also a point of note, it does not suck down propane. Fairly efficient.
Can this be used indoors?

BEST ANSWER: Must be used outside just as a gas grill. It runs off propane and has the flame under the ceramic slab where the pizza goes so definitely outside use only.
How do you screw the legs on?

BEST ANSWER: Bottom of unit has slots for legs. There are 4 screws in parts bag that you screw through the unit and into the legs to lock them into place. Once you insert the legs you'll see how they line up. Make sure legs are inserted correctly in slots, sealed end of leg facing down.

BEST ANSWER: It really makes a great pizza, and is ideal for any kind of flatbread. As for cooking other things, the main limitation is the shallow opening which is about 3 in. high. To get around that, I guess you could remove the top -- I haven't tried it so I'm not sure you'd get good results doing this.
What is the size of the stone in the pronto pizza oven?

BEST ANSWER: The stone is 14", but the opening is only 13 1/2". It is best to keep the pizza down to 12" or so, though- it's hard to place it really exactly when putting it in, and you definitely don't want it going over the edge of the stone- not only will it burn, but the crust can set in a hook shape making it difficult to move or remove the pizza.
Pizza Pronto - 2 Questions

Can the top cone be removed to use the top of the Stone plate - to place a flat bottomed Wok on it for high heat cooking? What else can this oven be safely used for? Thank you
