Wish they had a 2nd larger size
This arrived and I immediately used it to drain 2lbs of green beans in a 8 quart Le Creuset stock pot. At first I was worried that because my pot as a rim/ledge for the lid that the clamp wouldn't hold on, it did. I had to drain slowly and let the green beans fall back into the pot a few times so they wouldn't fall over the top of this piece or knock it off but otherwise it worked fine. I think this size is better for smaller diameter pots, like saucepans but if you're careful you can use it on bigger diameters. It would be great if there was a larger size available for bigger pots/heavier contents.

pot drainer
This is the perfect kitchen gadget. I use when cooking pasta, potatoes and veggies. I can drain the excess water from pot. Keeps me from being burned with the water and steam.

Works great, it is light-weight and frees up one hand, which is what I really appreciate. You can empty the water away from you so you don't get the usual facial steam, too.

Favorite new kitchen gadget!
This works like a dream! Very sturdy, and works on every one of my pots, even when it doesn't fit snuggly. Great in the dishwasher - and takes up so much less room than a traditional colander. I bought 7 of them for holiday gifts because this product is THAT good.

New to me
This is a new tool for me and I'm getting used to it. Much easier to clean than a colander, smaller to store, fits snugly on all my pots with strong spring clamp. Don't know what volume of food it will "hold back", but so far so good.

Fantastic
Previously, I needed a separate strainer which was much larger. The planet clip takes less storage space, easier to clean and yet does the job of straining off liquids.

This clip on strainer is really worth having. It's very handy and works well. I;m buying as gift for some older relatives. I think this may be a safer way to drain boiling water for them. Would highly recommend.
Janet on Jun 20, 2019
It looked more convenient than breaking out, and then cleaning, the colander for every pot of pasta. I'm concerned that the clip mechanism will rust or be a hassle to clean, but I'll give it a shot.
John E on Jun 2, 2019
Thought it looked really handy; better than grabbing a strainer every time.

We don't make a whole ton of pasta but this could definitely come in handy for draining. But I definitely make a lot of potato dishes, so being able to boil and drain without leaving the pot is convenient.

Sara B on Feb 1, 2019
This is a very useful item. Especially useful for medium sized pots. I love the red color. I know it comes in apple green as well. Consider adding black and silver/grey so it fits in many decors.
Gale B on Jan 19, 2019
I've been using the lid to my pan so far to drain my pasta, and I have limited space in my smaller apartment so a full size colander isn't really an option

Is this BPA free?
A shopper on Sep 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, this is not BPA free.
Does this item come in other colors, like white, blue, or green?
A shopper on Sep 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Red and green were available when i purchased in December 2017.
Can you strain spaghetti? Does the spaghetti slide through the holes?
A shopper on Jan 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It works wonderful with any type of pasta... spaghetti, fettucini and even angel hair pasta. I love mine and have gifted many family members with one of their own!
Does this work on Le Creuset Dutch oven?
A shopper on Jul 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes! This is the handiest little contraption. I was skeptical when I first purchased it, but. It works. So much easier than using a colander.
Does pot need to have a lip to secure? I have circulon which has no lip.....
A shopper on Dec 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: NO, it just clips on (like a chip clip) to side of pan, the part that clips to the pan has silicone grippers that grip, so it doesn't slip or slide off. I bought one 2 years ago & love it!
Can this strain very small pasta, like stars?
A shopper on Aug 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I haven't tried it on star shaped pasta, but I have used it to drain whole grain rice, and it works very well.
Will this work to drain grease from ground beef after browning?
Jacqui L on Dec 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We have only used this to drain pasta and vegetables but i see no reason why it wouldn't work with grease. the plastic seems sturdy enough to withstand the heat. however, drain food slowly so that large quantities of food do not drop onto the strainer all at once as it may cause the strainer to shift relative to the pot edge (this actually applies to using it with any foods)
Will the clip scratch non-stick pans?
Kristen H on Jun 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I use mine all the time in various pots and have never had an issue with scratches. It is light weight and easy to clip on and off I would just make sure to open the clip when removing and not yank it off.
What part of the strainer is silicone and which part plastic?
SIRIDATAR K on Dec 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I believe the plastic is part of the clip as it would have to be rigid, compared to silicone, to hold the clip steady with the stainless steel. That makes the pourable area the silicone. I use my strainer quite often and so far the clip has never fallen off, and I always clean it in the dishwasher. I’ve had it a couple years. A nice option when you don’t want to clean a bowl strainer.
Does it work for draining orzo?
Alicia S on Sep 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have used it for draining orzo.
Does it work for rice?
A shopper on Jul 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have used it for rice. Some of rice might get stuck in the holes but a wooden spoon easily takes care of it. This is actually one of my favorite tools. I've bought several as gifts.
