Nice look & feel, performance good
I purchased a set and added to the set after redoing my kitchen in May of this year. I purchased without examining in the store. The Mauviel pots and pans feel great in your hands and on the stove. They look great, a huge step above my last stainless steel set from Belgium.

I have a few comments and suggestions for Sur La Table and Mauviel to improve the product. This comes from my observations over the past 5 months of heavy usage.

1) They seem to scratch on the bottom very easily. I have a stove with cast iron grates, they're doing a good job scratching up the bottoms. I would have wanted the bottoms to be a bit more hardy given the price.

2) They are lighter, the overall mass is less than All Clad. Heft means great cooking, heat retention, less sticking. Heft also feels like better quality.

3) The handles curve upwards, love the feel and working with them but if you put them in the oven, you need to really move or remove one of the racks to make it work.

4) The stainless steel discolors on the bottom from the gas heat. Related to #1 above, the bottom could be thicker and tougher to avoid the scratches and discoloration. If you examine All Clad, the bottom is hardier.

5) The stainless steel on the inside of the pots and pans seems like it could be thicker and smoother. To get it looking new after using and drying, I wipe them with a bit of oil to bring the luster to what it was when new.

Overall I am satisfied with my purchase. I added a few matching pieces and my overall spend into this new set is around $1200. I have had second thoughts, should have went with All Clad brushed, and am working through reconciling that in my mind. I will stick with these for now and when our daughter graduates college, I might give these to her and purchase a new set to move into the next 20 years of cooking.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my experience with these.

Excellent quality for the money
I purchased this set for my daughter who was just moving into her first apartment after college. My intention was to get her started with a cook set that was good enough that she'd want to expand it, rather than replace it, later in life. We have the Mauviel M'250c in our kitchen, which is the best cookware made, especially if you have a gas stove. I wanted something approaching that for my daughter, but was a bit lighter in weight and lighter on the wallet. What's special about Mauviel cookware is that the side walls are just as thick as the bottom, so they don't overheat and scorch. The pots in this cook set meet that criteria. If you're not going to spend thousands on cookware, then this Mauviel set is an excellent choice

Love this cookware; just adding additional pieces when can catch them at a good price and this was a tremendous deal

Super sale! Our old pans are not high quality and wearing out after 15 years of use. Thanks to the sale, we can afford to upgrade! I hope they last a long time, and given the reputation of the brand, I believe they will.

I need good quality pans for a gas stove. Our current pans' handles have started to come apart. I'd love the copper, but we need a full set, and will fill copper in piece by piece.

I have the Mauviel copper set, and polishing them frequently, to keep their new shine, is somewhat annoying, so I wanted an everyday set to use when I'm not being pretentious...haha.

Shopped several brands from other stores and the Saleslady Sally from country club plaza store , Kansas City, MO was very helpful and sold me on the product. Tried to place order today by phone to her directly but she was not working today. Would like to see if she could get credit for the sale. Thank You

I'm trying to decide between the Mauviel M Collection set or the All Clad Stainless Steel or D5. Any recommendations? Thank You
Nelson G on Jan 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Speaking personally rather than professionally, I like the Mauviel set better. The performance of both of these sets is fantastic, as they're made of the same material with the same layers of metal, but I find that the handles on the Mauviel are more comfortable to hold, which is important with cookware as heavy as this.
The set is made in France but where do the raw materials originate? Where are the metals from? Thank tyou!
Charles on Nov 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: From Mauviel:
"There are several suppliers, and the factory buys the raw material from a supplier that meets the material requirements and that offers the best prices.
As there are different shapes at different times in production, and as there are items in inventory in France, the USA and at SLT, the origin of the material in any given product at any one time could differ from an item that is next to it on a shelf or in the warehouse."
What is the thickness of the aluminum alloy layer between the stainless steel for the Mauviel M’collection de Cuisine collection? Is there an industry standard of thickness that is used across all stainless steel cookware or it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer?
A shopper on Apr 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: What a great question! I have no idea. Would the seller know? There is a lot of hype now about these expensive cook sets but little objective study of their differences, including why and whether they should cost so much. My comments re the set are: they heat up very well, I like high sides, they scratch immediately on the bottom. Also, most of the pieces are heavy and rather large. As a single, I find myself returning to my old Revere Ware, which is the opposite. But the pans are good for cooking for more folks. And they are pretty. Good luck!
Hello, I am very pleased with my Mauviel M'Collection 10 piece set. Recently, I've noticed that, despite my washing with a gentle sponge and Dobie, there are stuck on remnants of food on the bottom of the pot-- which makes it seem dirty, though I know it is not. I've heard that Bar Keepers Friend is recommended, but wanted to ask you if it was recommended by SLT on their Mauviel pans before trying it out. What do you think of Bar Keepers Friend? Any other advice for keeping Mauviel pans shiny and spot free? Thank you.
Allison R on Jan 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I had the same problem and discovered that the brand Norwex (found thru direct sell parties) has a stainless steel scrubber that works beautifully. When I first used my pots it left whitish discoloration and this cleaned it all up and make my pots look like new, nice and shiny.
Are all the pieces induction compatible?
Olivia L on Jun 12, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, all of these pieces are induction compatible
How does this compare to M'cook?

M'collection de cuisine, by description and per photos, seems very similar to the M'cook line and an excellent value. Aside from appearance (I actually like the brushed exterior of the M'collection better) are there any differences, e.g. weight or composition
A shopper on Apr 8, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I agree that these lines are very similar. The most notable difference would be the brushed exterior and that you can get the M'Cook with cast iron or bronze handles.
What is the length of the handles on the 10 piece mauviel collection
A shopper on Sep 3, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The 1 1/4 qt saucepan has a 6 1/2"" handle.The 2.7 qt saucepan has a 7 1/2"" handle.The 8"" skillet has a 7 1/2"" handle.The 11"" skillet has a 9 1/4"" handle.The 3.4 qt saute pan has a 9 1/2"" handle
Is there a nonstick surface?
Charles on Nov 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This set comes with a bonus 8" nonstick skillet, but the rest of the set is stainless steel.
What comes in the collection? Does it come with the dish towel and do you ship to Canada?
A shopper on Feb 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Includes: 1¼-qt. saucepan with lid; 2.7-qt. saucepan with lid; 8" nonstick skillet; 11" skillet; 3.4-qt. sauté pan with lid; 6.4-qt. fait tout with lid. The towel is not included. Yes, we do ship to Cnada.
Is Mauviel cookware 18/10 stainless steel?
Doris P on Nov 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this cookware is 18/10 stainless steel.
Is the non-stick pan PFOA free? And how does the non-stick aspect hold up to being washed in the dishwasher (Since I've been told other non-stick pots/pans don't hold up well after dishwasher use)? Thanks!
A shopper on Nov 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The only non-stick pan that I got in the set was the small 8 inch omelet pan, the rest are not. I have been using the pans and absolutely love them. I did not want no-stick for the PFOA reason. Depending on what I cook determines if I need to use oil in the pan or not. I do not recommend putting the pans in the dishwasher as it'll dull the look of the pans. I hand wash mine and dry immediately and they look like brand new still. I have put the saute pan in the oven to bake fritatta and it was fantastic. It can withhold the high oven temperatures very well. Hope this answers your question.
Do these pans preform well on a glass top range? Is the finish a brushed look instead of shiny?
Bonnie G on Oct 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have a glass top range and they work fabulous on it. The brushed look has a nice shine to it but you don't have to worry about seeing the finger prints as if it were shiny.
Does the stew pot fit the pasta insert which is 9.5". Not sure how it's measured?
M L on Jul 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Shoot - I didn't buy the pasta insert, so am not sure! But I love these pans - they look great, heat quickly and are dishwasher safe! Good luck! Susan
what is the term fait tout? the stock pot in this set....thanks
A shopper on Jul 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It's the double loop handled Dutch oven.
