Another Solid Wusthof Offering
I received the Wusthof Tri-Stone sharpener as a birthday gift recently. The three whetstones have a great mix of grit and work very well. The squeeze bottle is a bit unnecessary as the stones work best if you soak each side in water for a good while before using. The base is very stable when in use and the tri-stone sits in it securely. I do worry a bit that the stain may begin to wear off after continued contact with water, but I suppose that is to be expected. After my first use on all three stones I was able to use my 8' Wusthof Classic Chef Knife to cut right through a piece of paper I was holding in midair. I'd say that's a success.

My son used it last night on his Wusthof knife set --
Looked easy to use-- he was inpressed-- could cut paper @ edge with no effort-- would slice with easy- no jagged edges.
So you can imagine just how sharp those knives are now!!

In the tradition of Wustoff this is a quality product. However, with good knives you need to take a bit of time to learn proper use and technique to maximize the tool and get the sharpest edge you are looking for.

Can this be used on a serrated knife, like their bread knife?
BEST ANSWER: No you can not use this whetstone on a serrated knife. Whetstones like this one are designed for solid blade knives. Unfortunately, I do not know of a mechanism to sharpen a serrated knife other than to buy a new one.

I have a J.H Henckel chef knife made in Spain. Could I use this product
to sharpen it without causing damage?
to sharpen it without causing damage?
BEST ANSWER: I have several Wustof knives and this stone is the best there is for them. It has explicit directions on usage and care. It truly keeps them wonderfully sharp at all times. It was a purchase with money well spent. I have never regretted it. I had an electric knife sharpener but the blades always dulled quicker.

Do you need a cleaning stone for these stones?
BEST ANSWER: I have been using mine regularly for over a year and have not needed one yet. I am open to purchasing one if the need arises but I am not seeing any evidence that this will happen or actually become a need. I wish I could tell you more. This has just been my experience with it.
