Unbelievable Flavor!! Better than Pure Extracts!!
A few years ago, I needed lime flavoring for a cake recipe. I stumbled onto these citrus oils and have been hooked ever since!!! These oils taste so much better in baked goods than extracts do.

The flavors are bold but not overpowering and they have a smoothness to them that you do not find in extracts. When I taste a citrus extract, I find them to be sour and some what bitter, like when you accidently taste the white pith from freshly grated lemon peel. These oils are tart without the bitterness and taste like really ""fresh fruit.""

I have used all 3 citrus oils individually in cakes and cookies. They are all very good, but my favorite is the lemon. I made my favorite lemon bar recipe with the lemon oil
and the lemon flavor was much richer than when I used bottled lemon juice!

These are not extracts and need refrigeration once opened. They have at least a year ""shelf life."" The bottles indicate that they are ""all natural"" and made from ""100% pressed lemons(oranges, or limes).""
The label also indicates that these oils are good in soups and salad dressing(I have only used them in baking). Since these are more concentrated than extracts, less is needed to achieve a superb flavor.

If you are looking for a really ""true"" citrus flavor that does not taste artificial, I highly recommend trying these! You will not be disappointed!

Great
These oils are great to add to anything from cookies, cakes & muffins. They do stain so watch your clothes. If you have the zest from the fruit to add makes it even better.

Flavorful
The oils (as usual) give a more pronounced flavor than the extracts. The flavors are very strong so use sparingly starting with a few drops. Do not add in using a teaspoon or tablespoon like you do with extracts or you will end up with an inedible product. Nice array of flavors all-in-one pack. It is expensive considering the amount in the bottle but a little goes a long way so no complaints.

A chef told me that a few drops of the lemon oil would add to the taste of a lemon curd recipe I use. I plan on trying the lime oil in my Thai recipes.

I've been pondering on experimenting and intensifying the flavors to my baking treats. Would be nice if they offered a pick your flavor pack from Boyajian or even a 3oz bottle as this stuff can be refrigerated. I'm a fan of other flavors as well like almond, vanilla, coffee-espresso, butter, peach and would be nice to see those offered as well.

With just a few drops of these oils, your dressings have an added zest ... your sauces a little more gusto ... and your palette a lot more pleasure.

I hate zesting, so this stuff is great for cooking, cocktails, whatever. It's very concentrated, so tiny little bit goes a long, long way.

Are these packaged in glass bottles, or are they plastic?
Kate1234 on Oct 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Mine definitely came in glass bottles.
What are the oz. size of each bottle?
A shopper on Jan 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Each of the three citrus oil bottles contains 1 fluid ounce (30ml) in really cute glass bottles with a metal screw top. Since the flavor of the oil is so intense as the natural essences are cold pressed from the rind of the fruits -- pure orange, lemon and lime -- you only need just a few drops to enhance sauces, dressings, etc. These are not diluted extracts or flavorings. They are remarkably intense oils. It takes 44 oranges, 66 lemons or 80 limes to fill the 1 ounce bottle. I actually use a dropper when adding these oils to my foods.

Also, please note that the picture listed is outdated. Boyajian has changed their packaging with a more sophisticated look.
How much less of these oils than an extract would you use in a recipe when measuring?
Carol on Oct 31, 2014
BEST ANSWER: A very little of these oils goes along way. A small capful in a salad for 6 people is enough to add a citrus sparkle. 2 capfuls is plenty for 2 quarts of home made ice cream. Experiment. I love them and use them in many things including iced tea.
