Awesome stock pot
I adore this stock pot. The size is great, and the heavy bottom ensures even heating without scorching. Excellent quality at an amazing price!

BEWARE - GLASS LID EXPLODED
I purchased this stock pot a couple weeks ago based on the great reviews and the second time I used it, the glass lid exploded and shattered while I was cooking. Luckily, I wasn't standing over or too near the pot when it happened as the glass exploded onto my counter and floor and into the pot itself. I called customer service and they didn't seem at all bothered by this and just told me to print off a label and send the pot back, which to me is not a satisfactory response.

Impressive! What a great price for supreme quality!
I love my new All-Clad 8quart stockpot! It is large enough for the stocks Imprepare twice a month now, instead of weekly! It boils on medium heat on my gas range! Love it! I highly recommend!

One-stop stock pot
This size pot is exactly what I have needed for years, and I finally invested in this SLT one. I am a huge fan of SS cookware, and I needed something taller than my old stock pot for soups, bone broth, and stews. I might try it as a crab pot at some point. Highly recommend this! Sur La Table is top of my list.

Not the best for induction
Great size and pot but only has a disk on the bottom that works on induction so the sides of the pot don't heat up.

Size and quality. Have an 8 quart and am happy with it. And for such a large stock pot, only having tri-ply on the bottom is fine.

How do these compare with All Clad?
A shopper on Nov 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Highly comparable. The Slt cookware has the same 3 ply composition as the AllClad Stainless Steel line. Some would even say the Slt line is better, as it has more ergonomic handles & glass lids.
Is the stainless for these pots 18/10? If not what is it?
A shopper on Oct 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this is 18/10.
Are these stockpot Tri-Ply?
Amy S on Sep 29, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I believe the base is triply but the wall of the pot ( at least the 16 quart ) is not
Safe over high temps?

Would the 16 qt be safe to use over a gas grill or open flame? Thanks.
SEAgoonie on May 14, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I believe the base is triply but the side of the pot ( at least the 16 quart ) is not.
Does safe to 500 degrees mean oven safe? What about the glass cover lid? Specs don't mention being oven safe. Have already purchased it but want to make sure it's OK for the oven.
A shopper on Dec 29, 2014
BEST ANSWER: yes,its safe to put inside the oven ,with the lid up to 500%..although,you probably won't ever have a reason to do that at such a high temp.but, yes it is safe. hope this helps you out! dasize34
What is the outer and inner diameter of the 8 qt pot? What is the height without handles? I see 10 x 9 which seems large for an 8 qt pot.
A shopper on Mar 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The inner diameter is 9.5 inches the outer diameter, at the top, is 10.125 inches. The height is about 7 inches without the lid.
Is there a strainer that goes with the 16qt version?
A shopper on Sep 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: YES
Can I put the pot in the refrigerator?
A shopper on Feb 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I certainly would and have put stainless steel stockpots in my refrigerator. I absolutely wait until the soup or stew has cooled to an appropriate temperature (to avoid spoiling the food...read up on that debate online) before placing it in a fridge. As for whether it would fit? I recommend employing a ruler or tape measure and making sure your fridge will accommodate the (lidded) pot PRIOR to purchase... if that's important to you. Hope that helps 😊.
Any issues with food sticking with the 16-qt pot? (I can't use high heat with my non-stick pots). Thank you!
VALERIE A on Jan 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. That is why they invented Non-Stick. However; The high heat does not ruin this pot and you can scrub anything out with enough elbow grease. I have not found anything, other than water that needed to be made at an extremely high temp. I have burned Potato Soup and yes it took some scrubbing, Use non stick for the skillet, and this for boiling, soups and sauces. Beyond that, too high of heat is usually a bad idea for a short cut in my experience.
How good is this on induction? I read
In the reviews, not the best , what pot is best for induction ?
A shopper on Jan 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I don't have induction but have researched it. My understanding is special cookware is needed for induction. It has to be magnetic. Just because a pot is metal doesn't mean it will work on Induction.
Cleaning instructions?
A shopper on Dec 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Stainless steel pot, so regular dish soap, water (or whatever temp.), scrubby sponge or brush. May want to refrain from using anything that may scratch or you'll scratch it, but hey, if you burn food in it real bad, do whatcha gotta do. Scratching it (superficially) doesn't seem to have impacted performance.
what is the bottom of the pan made of?
A shopper on Mar 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The box says "Aluminum clad base encapsulated with stainless steel" - I have the 16 quart with glass lid and I love it. I use it to make large quantities of stock and works well! Perfect for my use and I NEVER buy aluminum if it touches my food.
Why does everyone say not to put it in the dishwasher, when this Web site says, "Care: Dishwasher safe"?
A shopper on Jan 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: All dishwasher detergent is not created equal. We will wash some pots and pans but we don't use the more caustic (means no bleach) soaps. Especially if you are cleaning anything NOT STAINLESS. I would recommend just doing all pots and pans with bar keepers friend or bon ami (both with oxalic acid).
What size SLT stock pot is fully jacketed? I see the 16qt isn't, but is the 12qt? Or do you have to move to the 8qt?
Jimmy on Dec 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I am sorry I don’t know. I sent this as a gift and I’ve never seen it.
Are the handles riveted to the pot?
Pamela C on Oct 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, they are riveted. I have been very happy with my pot. It is well built.
Does the Aluminum touch the food anywhere? - this is my only real concern with this pot.
Kristi L on Feb 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No. It's sealed between 2 layers of steel.
Does /Sur La Table offer a 11 or 12 QT Stock pot of this quality?
Kristi L on Feb 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, we carry a 12qt multicooker.
Will this pot work with an induction stove?
Peter C on Jan 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I believe that anything that a magnet attaches to from the bottom will work on an induction stove.
