But what sets this machine apart is the extra wide feeding chute, the small and large pushers, the adjustable slicing blade with 24 settings, and the emulsifying disc. All of these features give you great control, making this machine extremely versatile.
I make a lot of raw vegan food, and I have been giving this machine a work out! It is fantastic for uniformly grinding and chopping fresh herbs, raw nuts and seeds and dried fruit. This machine makes great fresh nut and seed butters, dips and spreads. But the real test was the thick sticky stuff like raw balls, raw crusts, and raw cookies. Amazing! I also made conventional gluten free cakes and cookies with tremendous results too. I made some gluten free breads with the dough kneader and it worked out a treat!
But the adjustable slicing disc has become my new best friend. You can slice super thin pieces up to thick cuts. I couldnt believe how well the slicing and shredding disc sliced tomatoes! It also makes really uniform shredded pieces for salads. The julienne disc offers incredible control over sizing - you can make really long pieces by laying the vegetables horizontally in the wide feeding chute! The emulsifying disc is really amazing too. I have made delicious mayonnaise, fresh fruit sorbet, and ice cream.
I cannot rave enough about this machine. It is absolutely fantastic

The discs that come with this food processor are all I could ask for. I love the fact that the slicing blade can adjust from practically paper thin thin to about a 1/2 inch. The slicing blade cuts foods evenly. The french fry blade cuts them so they are all the same thickness. I also have used the french fry blade to to dice onions perfectly. The S blade chops great.
The mouth of the food processor is big enough to fit whole fruits and vegetables into it.
An engineer that also cooks was visiting and looked at the design of the machine and its accessories was very impressed with its quality.
I love the fact that bowl has a 12 cup liquid capacity. The design is well thought out. I have not used the small bowl yet.
The fact that their is a case to hold all of the accessories is a bonus. It is more likely to be used often if everything is in one place and easy to access. Everything is clearly labeled so you know what is used for.
The quality appears excellent and I expect to be using this on almost a daily basis for years to come. The replacement warranty is 1 year. However, the motor warranty is 25 years.
The initial cost is not cheap. But when you figure anything you could possibly need is included in the purchase price it is a reasonable price for the product. Other food processor companies get you with the additional cost of the accessories which are very pricey. I would highly recommend the Breville Sous Chef food processor over other processors.
I have had the pleasure to deal with Sur La Tables' customer service and they are a great store to work with. Sur La Table is like a candy shop to me

Questions & Answers
Is this the new BFP800XL/A?
I don't understand how this processor is different: why is there a problem with grating cheese? And why has this (apparently) not fully been addressed? This is one of the reasons I particularly like having a food processor; it makes grating a large amount of cheese so much faster. For $400, I would expect it to get the cheese out of the fridge for me AND grate it! I've had this processor on my wish list for some time, but never noticed the cheese grating problem until reading the Q&A just now. I'd love to hear a comprehensive answer from the manufacturer. I'm definitely rethinking my options..
