Amazing
This mixer has turned me into a baker. It is easy to add ingredients. The depth of the mixing bowl means that messes are contained. It's easy to remove the mixing bowl. It's powerful, but when you set it to stir, it gently mixes. One caveat -- this mixer and the bowl are quite heavy. You'll want a permanent place for it on your counter rather than to move it from a cupboard to the counter.

Top of the Line Stand Mixer
I have been using KitchenAid Stand Mixers for over 50 years. I love the product quality and also use the attachments. I did love the idea of a glass mixing bowl. So my husband suggest I order this one. It also holds more than my earlier mixer. I will continue to use them both. This is one product that will last a lifetime.

Top of the Line —Love the Glass Bowl
I have used these wonderful stand mixers for many years. My first one was in the 1970s and I was making a very heavy whole-grain bread. I set it to knead and was going outside for just a few minutes, I got to talking with a neighbor and then realized instead of kneading for ten minutes, had left it for over an hour. Needless to say, I burned up the motor. My next mixer, I still have and use regularly. I just loved the larger size and the glass bowl so I ordered this new one. It is wonderful. I love the quality. The only drawback for some, might be that it is very heavy when filled with dough to lift and pour. So older people might like the lift head better with the smaller glass bowl. I do love it and it is a workhouse. Buyers can not go wrong. Perfect for wedding or first apartment gifts.

Workhorse
I burned out an old stand mixer making sourdough. This workhorse plowed through a 4 loaf doughball like it wasn't even there.

Disappointed/Doesn't Scrape Bottom or Sides
Like others who have reviewed the 6500, I love the huge glass bowl, the power, the quiet. Unfortunately, I am very unhappy about the blade not reaching the bottom or sides of the bowl, even when adjusted to the absolute max. I was so excited to receive this product, but I cannot stop and scrape this many times. We don't have a ton of money, so this was a super special holiday gift, and you can't imagine my disappointment and that of my husband, who so wanted to give me the mixer of my dreams. I used my old KitchenAid mixer happily for almost 20 years and was looking forward to passing it on to my daughter. I just wanted the bigger glass bowl, and now look at what has happened. I can't even imagine what a pain it's going to be to return this gigantic item (we bought it online). Please don't send me your blanket response. Please don't ask me to post my review elsewhere. You obviously have a design problem with this product.

Best Mixer Ever
I do a lot of food preserving, baking and candy-making. I have worn out three mixers over the years, one was an older Kitchenaid I received as a gift back in 1980. It was loud and I could not use it when my family was in the den (open concept den/kitchen). It finally gave up the ghost last holiday season and I told my family I wanted a new Kitchenaid mixer for Christmas. I received this model in CA red. It is the best machine I have ever used, including Kitchenaids I've used in classes. It doesn't vibrate even when making divinity and heavy bread doughs. It is so quiet my family hardly knows it's on when they are in the den. I can be using it and still converse with them. I can't say enough good things about this mixer. I have yet to truly test its motor. I have never heard it change its sound when going from thin to heavy batters or doughs. It's really a workhorse. This year, I asked for a spiralizer and a meat grinder for it, for Christmas. Looking forward to receiving some attachments for this awesome appliance. First thing I will do if I get the spiralizer is make a big batch of applesauce, which my family loves. I'm known, now, as Cookie Quick Finger because when my family wants fresh cookies, I can have some made in just a couple of hours.

Disappointed!
I was very exited about this new mixer as I loved my older model that I passed onto my daughter in law.
And, Yes it's pretty, but I haven't been impressed with this particular model. In my opinion the beaters have been made smaller to perhaps compensate for the GLASS bowl. I'm guessing that perhaps the makers didn't want to take a chance on them hitting and breaking the bowl and so (even after making the suggested clearance adjustment) the mixer still doesn't begin to come close enough to the bottom or the sides of the bowl to move my batter or dough around.
KitchenAid is sending me a new bowl in hopes that it will solve this issue, but I am doubtful that it will solve anything. And I'll still have a very exspesive mixer that can't even do what my hand mixer can do!

I AM SO EXCITED FOR MY NEW KITCHENAID.

I decided on the 6-quart. Then it was down to the pro 600 or the 6500. I chose the 6500 because it had a stronger motor (and the glass bowl) even though it holds 1 cup less of flour. The motor won me over.

One of my greatest passions is baking. I got the 6500 series because I usually make a minimum of 3 cookie batches at a time and I needed a mixer that doesn't complain during the hard mixing. This mixer does the job. Love the cherry red color and it makes me happy to see it sitting on my counter.

Does this also have a stainless steel bowl as an accessory that can be purchased separately ?
Kenneth L on Oct 21, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can buy a 5 or 6qt bowl separately for this stand mixer.
What is the total Wattage?
A shopper on Oct 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: KitchenAid lists 1.3 Hp under wattage on their website.
What is the difference between the 6500 Series Stand Mixer and the Artisan Stand Mixer? There is a $200 difference and I am wondering why I would want to splurge on the 6500 Series versus the standard Artisan one?
A shopper on Aug 26, 2015
KitchenAid® 6500 Series Stand Mixer, 6 qt.
KitchenAid® 6500 Series Stand Mixer, 6 qt.
KitchenAid® Artisan Stand Mixer, 5 qt.
KitchenAid® Artisan Stand Mixer, 5 qt.
BEST ANSWER: Great question, it depends greatly on the jobs that you are going to ask the machine to do. If you are making double batches of cookies, large amounts of bread dough...you would want to consider the larger 6500. It has a bigger bowl and a more powerful motor. The 6500 also has the lift/lower feature for the bowl versus the tilting head on the Artisan. Hope that helps. Either way, you will own your KitchenAid for the rest of your life.
What is the difference between this 6500 mixer and the Pro-Line 7 quart. Besides the capacity, what is the difference between the two? Trying to decide whether the price difference is worth it.
Corey B on Nov 15, 2015
KitchenAid® 6500 Series Stand Mixer, 6 qt.
KitchenAid® 6500 Series Stand Mixer, 6 qt.
KitchenAid® Pro Line® Stand Mixer, 7 qt.
KitchenAid® Pro Line® Stand Mixer, 7 qt.
BEST ANSWER: I see 3 differences between the two mixers. The 6500 has 1. horse power and a smaller bowl which is glass. The Proline 7 qt. has 1.3 horsepower, the larger stainless steel bowl (which I like) and it also comes with a 2 yr. warranty, which is always good. I'm happy my Proline mixer. Hope this helps you.
what colors does it come in?

BEST ANSWER: It comes in slate, red, black & white.
Do you match the price with the 20% coupon from Bed Bath & Beyond?

BEST ANSWER: While we do price match, we only match an item's listed sale price, not coupons or promotional offers.
The description says it is made in the USA. Then it says it is assembled in Ohio. Does that mean the components were made somewhere outside the USA?

How many watts is the motor on the 6500 mixer?
