Description
EXCLUSIVE
Perfect for slow-cooked chili, roasted meats, stewed vegetables and more, this cast-aluminum Dutch oven is ideal for searing on the stovetop and then adding liquid to braise or deglaze. A domed lid locks in moisture, so cooking foods are steadily basted in their own flavorful juices.
An excellent choice for one-pot meals, this Dutch oven is suitable for a wide range of cooking techniques—including stewing, browning and slow cooking. The nonstick coating results in easy searing and browning, and thanks to the cast-aluminum construction, the oven is significantly lighter than similarly sized pans.

Just the right pot!
I trust the superior quality of All-Clad since I own several pieces of cookware from them over the years. When I saw this Dutch Oven at a very attractive price on Sur le Table, I ordered it. The non-stick feature is always a plus but needs to be very delicate with the surface of the nonstick coating in cooking and washing to avoid scratches. The deep sides make the searing splatter-proof. The size (61/2 qt) can hold a large portion of ingredients. Another outstanding feature is the lightness in weight of this pot. My only complaint is that the knob on the lid gets extremely hot and cannot be lifted up with bare fingers when heated. Surprisingly, the handles stayed cool. I love it and give it a high recommendation. If you're looking for a dutch oven pot without the weight, this is an ideal piece!

miracle pot!
I call this my miracle pot and was so glad when this came out again! Everything I cook in this pot comes out done correctly and moist. I use it both in the oven and on the stovetop. We did a turkey breast in it for Thanksgiving, searing it first (in this pot) and then cooking it on the stovetop and it came out wonderful and moist. This pot is also a lot lighter in weight than cast iron and I feel I can control the temp better. Just the perfect pot!

Great size, Perfect for induction!
What a great dutch oven! The size is ideal for so many things. The non-stick feature makes it a breeze to clean, and to cook with less oil. The disc on the bottom makes it ideal for induction cooking. I am very pleased with this purchase!

Awsome Big ol Pot !
The Al -Clad Dutch oven is a great piece added to my cooking arsenal . Used it quite a lot in two months cleans up good also had a batch of clam chowder in forgot about it watching the news and it boiled over most pans that would of burned but never scorched it . The only thing they could improve on it was knob on top could have a little more rubber it can get a little hot if touch the bottom of it . Great product ! Cooking bread in it next, sounded like a good idea ! In the future will also purchase a bigger one if they make it !

Light weight and heavy duty
The two terms don't essentially go in the same sentence, but in this case they do. Best even, dutch oven slow baking, without the weight of a cast iron dutch oven. 6 1/2 qt is easy for everyday dinners. I made a delicious slow roasted pork roast.

Great Pot!
I have always loved dutch-oven cooking, and this pot makes it even easier. Because of the light weight aluminum and great construction, it brings the food up to the boiling point very quickly and is so much easier to carry to the sink/table, even when completely full. The non-stick has performed flawlessly and is a breeze to clean, even though it's hand wash only.
The plate on the bottom of the pot says it's good for induction cooking, so I'm not sure why some of the Q &A said it isn't. Since I always use nylon or silicone utensils, I don't foresee an issue with the non stick.
I love the oval shape as well, and used it the very 1st time to cook a large brisket. Worked like a charm, and I never needed to add liquid at all, it has a great fitting lid. I love it!

Light but does the job
I bought this as I needed a nonstick Dutch Oven and this didn't disappoint. I braised meats in this pot a few time and the temperature distribution seems appropriate. Its light so even while filled to its capacity its not difficult to carry.
I'd buy more once i need another Dutch Oven.

Nice addition in my kitchen
I like the non- stick feature. My problem is that the knob on the lid gets super hot and cannot be lifted up without gloves when heated. Surprisingly, the handles stayed cool. I love it and I would give it a high five if wasn't for that. . If you're in search for a dutch oven pot without the weight, this is the piece for your kitchen.!

The Perfect Pot
This is perfect for so many things it is a great size, I love the fact that it is oval, once and deep and non stick. It is a great addition to my kitchen and I love using it. Oh yes and another huge plus is that it is very light weight.

Is this dishwasher safe?
Directions for dutch oven say oven safe to 400 degrees, but suggested recipe for Braised Whole Chicken calls for 450 degrees - what to do?
BEST ANSWER: This recipe was written for an old AllClad Dutch Oven we used to carry that was oven safe to 500°. For this Dutch oven, the Balsamic Braised Chicken recipe is suggested.

What is the difference between a dutch oven and a french oven?
BEST ANSWER: There is no inherent difference between a Dutch oven, a French oven, a stewpot, a round (or oval) oven, or a covered casserole, as long as each has relatively tall sides and a tight-fitting lid, and can be used on the top of the stove or in the oven.

Can you tell me about the non-stick? I am concerned as I usually stay away from them b/c of my bird.
BEST ANSWER: From Dupont product safety specs:
Are fumes from overheated nonstick cookware hazardous to birds?
Because birds have extremely sensitive respiratory systems, bird owners must take precautions to protect them. Cooking fumes, smoke and odors that have little or no effect on people can seriously sicken and even kill birds, often quite quickly. Cooking fumes from any type of unattended or overheated cookware, not just nonstick, can damage a bird's lungs with alarming speed. This is why bird owners should take steps to protect their pets, such as keeping their birds out of the kitchen, never leaving cookware unattended, never allowing pots and pans to overheat, and making sure that their kitchen is properly ventilated at all times.

Where was it made? The main picture has a sign "Made in the USA", but when I read a description, at the very end it says "Made in China". So, where?
BEST ANSWER: That's a great question. It says Canonsburg, PA on the box, so I looked on the actual item and there is no indication on the pot. I then inspected the box more closely and sure enough it says "Made in China." This is disappointing to me because I specifically bought it because I thought All-Clad was made in my home state of PA. Your question prompted me to go on All-Clad's official website (they won't allow me to put the link in here), but if you go under Customer Service --> FAQ it explains what is made where). With that said, I do like this dutch oven. I have an induction cook top, so I am limited to my options. Cast iron was just too heavy for me. This is light and does a great job. Wish it was 100% made in USA, but I still plan on keeping it. Good luck!

What has the cast aluminum been treated with? What is the material used for the "non-stick" surface? Can I use stainless steel utensils in this product
BEST ANSWER: I don't know the material used for the non-stick surface and would suggest checking the detailed information on the item. It is an excellent alternative to the traditional cast iron pots like Lodge or Le Creuset, as it is much lighter, and performs well. After regularly using it, the only caveats are that the lid can easily fall from the edge and is not easy to use in draining liquid (like water after boiling pasta) like the regular All Clad stainless saucepans or sauce pots and the pot may wiggle on the stove as the metal disk under the pot is not level with the rest of the pot. Otherwise, this pot performs well. I hope this response is helpful.

what is the largest turkey you can cook in this pan?
BEST ANSWER: I've never cooked a turkey in it, but I have fit a 5lb brisket (that does shrink). If I had to take a guess, I would say a medium-sized (8lbs or under). Also, keep in mind the pan is a bit narrow, so that may limit the size of the turkey as well.

Can you put top to pot in oven?
BEST ANSWER: Yes! You want the top on when you cook a chicken or whatever you are cooking. The air travels up and around and you will have the most tender chicken you have tasted. Also, when I cook carrots and potatoes or whatever you are putting in with the meat they are done perfectly. You not be sorry you bought this pot. I don't wash it in the dishwasher, but it is usually easy to clean. I really love this pan.

Why is this hand wash only? I wanted something that can be put in the dishwasher but is light weight and fairly non-stick
BEST ANSWER: First, this pan is amazing. I like it so much I have purchased it for my daughter and several friends. As to hand washing, it is extremely easy to wash. Food DOES NOT stick period. I will say that after I wash it I do run a paper towel around just to be certain. As to putting it in the dishwasher, it takes up a lot of space and for that reason alone I would not use this method. Warm, soap water is all it needs! Hope this helps.

I've heard that high temps on the stove can cause toxic fumes in the nonstick coating. Is this true for All-Clad's nonstick cookware? They are a great brand, so I'd be tempted to say that they had considered this, but research says that nonstick cookware is unsafe at unsafe temperatures and that the coating can be compromised when braising or searing. Could you please tell me what temperatures and techniques are safe for All-Clad's nonstick line, especially this pot?
BEST ANSWER: I use this pot to both braise & roast. Often start on stove top & complete in oven with a variety of recipes. Have never experienced any sort of fumes when cooking on stove top.....usually no higher than medium-high as that is a great temp for browning chicken, beef & pork. I purchased the pot because it is lightweight and cleans up beautifully. Many pots of this side are super heavy and are difficult for me to get in & out of oven because of their weight. So, for the questioner, I would not heat this pot above med-hi....as there is no need to so so. And I have never had a problem with fumes. Makes an elegant meal.

What is the non-stick surface made of? I cannot find anything describing it on the Sur La Table website and cannot even find the pan on the All Clad website. Given the concerns of overheating non-stick surfaces and leaching of potential toxins, I would hope we could at least be informed of the coating to try to make a decision. Oven temp not an issue, but searing meats on a powerful gas range top is as who knows what the temperatures reach.
BEST ANSWER: It's a proprietary PFOA free nonstick coating. It should be used at high temperatures on the stovetop, as the direct high heat can damage the surface.
