Pretty but not functional
The color is lovely and it looks pretty sitting on the counter. However, the butter doesn't stay in the pot with normal kitchen temperature (about 68 - 72 degrees) -- chunks of butter fall into the water. Additionally, because of the shape, it's tricky to use the last bits of butter. I'll replace it with the marble pot I used to have. (Marble seems to keep butter at that perfect spreadable temperature!)

I'd like to see the shape of the shape of the hollow lid, as shown in the L.Tremain butter crock. Would you please take a photo of this view of your item?
ReginaM M on Jan 3, 2016
i am trying to find this type of butter keeper, but shaped to hold a stick of butter. Can you help me? The one I saw in someone's home did not hold water.
Bonnie S on Mar 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi

... it holds more than 1 stick ... also, it has to have a water seal to prevent air from getting to the butter, I keep butter like that for weeks on the counter without it going rancid ...

Ron.
How much butter does the cup hold? I packed in one stick and it is well below the rim. How full should it be?
Diane R on Jan 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi

... the bowl of the butter cup holds more than 1 stick, I never buy butter in sticks ... so I am not sure how much exactly it takes, I fill it to the rim ... and skim it with a knife to take off the excess butter, put water in the holder and put the bowl in it ... as I use the butter, I continue to make sure the butter is pressed against the sides so bits and pieces don't slide into the water ... if that happens, I just take the pieces out of the water, change the water and use the butter ...

Hope that helps,
Ron.
Is this butter bell microwave safe? I want to repurpose it to be used for dark chocolate for dipping churros, then when finished, store in the refrigerator sans water in the bowl. Here in South, with the high humidity, neither butter nor chocolate can be kept on the counter. Both grow mold.
A shopper on Aug 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have found absolutely nothing that says the crocks are microwave safe. I do know they are dishwasher safe. I also live in the south (Texas) and I leave my butter out and have never had it get moldy. I do keep my Air conditioning on and it is generally around 78 degrees... Not sure if this has something to do with it......
how much water ?
A shopper on Sep 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi
... I put in maybe 1/2 “ in the bottom... as long as the air cannot get to the bitter you’re ok ... I change the water every 3 to 4 days ...

Hope that helps, I buy these as gifts for friends and family ...

Ron
did anyones butter go bad?
A shopper on May 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Well, in normal use it sure doesn't. However, if you let it sit for weeks and particularly when it is almost empty, too much air can get to the butter and it will go rancid ... this is for daily use. Also, changing the water barrier with fresh water on a regular basis ... like every 3 to 4 days helps preserve the butter longer.
Hope this helps.
