Good buy
This dish holds a rectangular block of butter such as Plugra or Président, or Kerry Gold. I like it a lot. My only gripe is that it was made in China.

My favorite butter dish
It is utilitarian while being elegant. We do have a problem in this house. My husband keeps breaking this favorite dish. I keep reordering it. So please never discontinue this item????

The perfect butter dish.
I love everything about this dish. It keeps the butter extra cold. It is so beautiful to see when you open the refrigerator door. It holds the European style butter perfectly. The weight is hefty. This is the perfect butter dish.

Should fit standard 4 oz sticks of butter with enough room so that the butter doesn't get smeared on sides or top when replacing the cover. I dislike messy butter dishes. Will try to check back after receiving to confirm that the size works .

Ursula K on Sep 16, 2016
Because I foolishly broke the top off of the one I had and it was a very special piece to me. Plus, it's the most usable butter dish I've ever had and you can see what's inside instead of ceramic which doesn't! Love it.
Mary M on Aug 25, 2016
I chose this item because I use KerryGold butter and it is the size of 2 sticks of normal USA butter. Fits perfectly.

Does anyone know if this will fit a one pound block (like the type you can buy at Costco)?
A shopper on Mar 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: no - it just fits the 1/4 lb rectangles like you buy in the supermarket. but it's super cute!
How butter does this dish hold ?
A shopper on Sep 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It will hold a length of a stick but only one stick at a time, unless you cut the
second one in half lengthwise, However, If you buy the Kerrigold butter
in the brick that fits nicely. Hope this helps!! I LOVE MINE
Does it contain lead?
A shopper on Jan 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I did not even question that issue when I purchased my butter dish; I assume that anything I purchase from Sur la Table is of the best quality and that their buyers would not consider any item that could compromise food or customer health. It’s a nice heavy glass dish and cover...I’d buy it again!
