Description

EXCLUSIVE Enjoy pizza that tastes like it just came out of a brick oven from the convenience of your kitchen or grill. Baking stone cooks pizza evenly without hotspots and helps uniformly brown and crisp crust. Also great for cooking and reheating bread, pastries and baked goods.

Made of cordierite, which is fired at a higher temperature than ceramic and can withstand thermal shock, easy-care stones require no seasoning or conditioning.

For best results, pre-heat oven or grill to 500°F and place stone in middle of oven on lowest rack or middle of grill for 30 minutes. When it is time to bake, dust stone with cornmeal before placing baked goods on top.

If baking a prepared food item, bake as directed by manufacturer on packaging. For fresh pizza, a flat metal spatula or a pizza peel dusted with cornmeal works well for transferring food to the baking stone.

Alternatively, using an oven mitt or glove, remove the hot stone from the oven, place food to be baked onto the stone and return both to the oven or grill.

  • Scrape off excess food with a spatula. When the stone has cooled, run it under hot water while scrubbing with a brush. Do not use soap on the stone as it may leave a soapy aftertaste. Great for pizza and bread!
Great stone...I had a smaller, lighter one before...this works great for pizza (use cornmeal and pre-heat well) and it also holds longer baguettes when I make sourdough...excellent...almost covers my whole oven shelf...instructions say you can use over open flame on a BBQ grill too

The pizza stone I've been looking for all my life
This stone is awesome! It's large--spanning almost the entire rack of my Kitchenaid oven and my Weber Genesis grill. It can take both oven heat and open-flame heat. And when preheated properly, it makes very crisp pizza. On taco night, it also heats up to six tortillas at a time very well.

I personally prefer using parchment instead of cornmeal for pizzas--easier to clean up. Paired with an Epicurean pizza peel and a decent dough recipe, this stone makes homemade pizza a much better alternative than ordering in

Sur La Table Also Has a Square One TOO
Awesome stone, excellent for cooking in a 500 degree oven on the lowest rack, in a wood burning oven or on the gas grill. Dust lightly with cornmeal before placing the dough on the stone. This stone stands up to the heat, browns and cooks for a nice crust. Remove pizza with a cornmeal dusted pizza peel. Let the stone cool down before you remove it, cleans up nicely. Epicurean pizza peel is sold at Sur La Table and is a must with this fantastic pizza stone. I personally love the large square stone, I make round pizzas so it works best for me

Broke on first use!
I followed all instructions - preheated the oven and stone, put it on the lowest rack in my oven, etc. It broke on its first use. It cracked right down the middle, all the way. I threw it away after its first use. Very disappointed

nice large size
we were looking for a larger stone for baking bread that would be about the size of our oven grates. seems like the bigger ones were discontinued most everywhere. glad we found this one - virtually a perfect fit.

Pizza stone
Ordered for my husband who loves making his own pizza. He makes one called grandma pizza which is better then anyone you can buy.
I maybe partial, but everyone he makes it for, loves it. They ask him to show how he makes it. The stone crisps bottom and makes it even better.

Fits perfectly in my oven or covers 2 stove top burners to provide extra counter space. Turn on stovetop flame beneath and use as warming tray. Pizzas come out great too.

Where is the large pizza stone made?

Country of origin
A shopper on Aug 10, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Enjoy pizza that tastes like it just came out of a brick oven from the convenience of your kitchen or grill. Baking stone cooks pizza evenly without hotspots and helps uniformly brown and crisp crust. Also great for cooking and reheating bread, pastries and baked goods. The pizza stone is made in China
How thick is the stone?
A shopper on Nov 8, 2011
BEST ANSWER: A little more than 1/2""...it feels very substantial..
what is cordierite made of and is there any lead in stone?
A shopper on Feb 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Cordierite is made of magnesium, iron & aluminum. They do not contain lead.
I am to put this in the oven and then preheat it to 500 degrees, right

Do you ever put it in a preheated oven? Would it crack then?
A shopper on Jan 22, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I've put cold pizza stones into preheated ovens before without a problem, but you lose the benefits of the product by doing so. You definitely want the stone to preheat for at least 30 minutes before you use it in order to get a crisp pizza crust. If you're looking for a way to transfer items on to the stone, please consider a pizza peel or parchment (or both)
What is the highest temperature tolerance?

How high of a temperature will this baking stone withstand?I have a bread recipe that requires the oven (and stone) to be pre-heated to 550F
A shopper on Mar 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: 550 degrees would be fine. Cordierite has excellent resistance to thermal shock and can be taken to temperatures in excess of 1500 degrees.
How thick is it?
A shopper on Jan 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We just measured it and it is 9/16ths". We are happy with the purchase.
How much does this pizza stone weigh?
Beck M on Dec 27, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It's not that heavy- maybe 4 or 5 pounds? It fits perfectly in my oven and fits two round pizzas.
I have heard the Cordierite stones emit an odor. what is this caused by? how long does it last? does it compromise the taste of the food?
A shopper on Apr 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have not noticed an odor. I preheat the stone and have it really hot before I bake the pizza. Didn’t notice any strange taste. I have used it a couple of times. I put my pizza together on a large pizza paddle with a handle then slide pizza off onto the hot stone.
How thick is this pizza stone?
A shopper on Nov 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The stone is about 1/3 inch thick.
Can be used on a fire brick oven at 900 degree f?
Manny on Apr 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would advise against it, it is recommended to be used at 500°F .
