We are in Heaven with Fluffy Popcorn that can become Addicting!!!
Simply put, we are popornaholics from way back and have burned out many electric popcorn poppers over the decades--including one model on this website. In desperation, we bought this one about 6 weeks ago at Sur la Table. The results have been so impressive we now routinely use this stovetop popper several nights a week!! We cannot believe its efficiency in popping almost every kernel every time We are NEVER going back to an electric variety. Be advised there is hot air coming up from the 3 air vent holes and once a kernel actually did eject through one hole. Our popcorn is now so soft and fluffy!! We have not tried adding any flavorings. Clean up is a breeze. We have gas burners, Best results are slightly under 1/2 cup of popcorn with heat set on medium high. Increasing the amount of kernels will create an overload condition. Lowering the heat to Medium decreases efficiency--at least on a gas stovetop. We default to extra virgin olive oil which adds great aroma.

Best new way to make popcorn!
I absolutely love my Pop & Roast! I have tried so many different ways to cook popcorn, and I believe I found the best way to do it. Not only is it a fun way to make my favorite snack, it cooks each kernel perfectly with an amazing crunch. It is also dishwasher safe making clean up a sinch!

Best popcorn pan ever!
This is the best popcorn pan I have ever found! Works on all glasstop stoves, including induction. Makes enough popcorn for the whole family in one batch. Easy to clean. I love this pan!

Makes great popcorn without having to buy another electric gadget
This popper is stainless steel and looks like it will last. I like that the twirling mechanism is "direct drive" and doesn't use gears. I've made two batches so far on my gas stove and nearly every kernel pops and not a single burnt piece. The inside rim of the glass top is hard to wash by hand as it is very tight/narrow but I can throw it in the dishwasher as it is dishwasher safe. I'm happy

Works Perfectly
I have only made plain popcorn in this snack maker and it has turned out perfectly every time. Very easy to use and clean. This is a nice heavy pot that could be used for many things with a plain cover. It's expensive, but I would definitely recommend this to others.

Fast and easy way to make popcorn
I just made popcorn using this pan for the first time. The pan requires very small amount of oil. I used corn oil, but did not overheat it, so it would not discolor the pan. All kernels popped perfectly. Love this pan!

Works great. Pain to store.
Does what it says on the box. The rubber dingus is a pain to keep track of and the top is awkward to store if you like to hang your pots.

But! It works!

I am a kettle corn vendor and thought this would make a great gift for a family member whom I cannot easily mail our product to. Using our special recipe I think we might be able to make a decent batch of kettle corn in this popper. Chose this on in particular because it is made of Stainless Steel -- Cloud 9 Kettle Corn.

A popcorn connoisseur, I have been searching for a quality pan for popping corn on my new glass ceramic electric stovetop (without scratching its surface.) I am thrilled to have found the Zippy Stainless Steel Stovetop Snack Maker. Stainless steel quality is unbeatable and with the pan's glass cover's turning mechanism, I no longer need to shake the pan.

My old pop corn popper would not work on induction and was not dishwasher safe. This is a win win.
Denise B on Jul 16, 2017
Love stove top popcorn but it was no longer possible to make it on our new induction stovetop. Zippy works great on induction range and makes wonderful popcorn.

This is a gift very similar to one I have that is fantastic. I do NOT like non-stick surfaces. It is induction stove-top usable. I like my glass lid, paddles and place to add ingredients. Mine has never burnt a batch hoping this will be the same.
John S on Dec 12, 2016
I was looking for a heavier duty stainless steel bowl because of the health concerns of teflon and aluminum.
Sheila S on Dec 12, 2016
I had read good reviews about it. This product being stainless steel was an important factor in my decision, and it has a sturdy glass lid as well.

We just bought an induction range and our old popper doesn't work on it - curved bottom does not make enough contact.

This looked to be the best popper for our range, style, etc.

We have an air popper and have been making lots of microwave popcorn. I read all the raving reviews for this popper and decided to try it. It seems like a healier way to make popcorn than the microwavable bags.

We got rid of our aluminum popcorn maker because we were worried about metal leaching (the bottom turners scrapped the bottom and metal was coming off, yuck!). So happy to have found a stainless steel pan because we are avid kettle corn makers. Just in time for the holidays!!

How does the lid stay on when the popper is being cranked? I've seen several other poppers of similar design and all the lids have a clamping mechanism to hold it down while in use. (I don't see any way for the lid to stay on in the pictures.)
Pauline C on Dec 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, because the lid is fairly heavy (thick glass and metal!) and there's the additional weight of your arm/hand as you're turning the crank. The glass does have the somewhat quirky tendency to rotate slowly, contrary to the direction you're moving the crank, but that doesn't cause any problems. I do find however that you have to keep a hold on the pot handle while cranking, otherwise the pot will **also** start to rotate away from you.
Does the popcorn come in contact with the aluminum?
Franca L on Dec 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This pan is made with Stainless Steel with a metal clad bottom. It works great!
Is this good on an induction cooktop?
Joanne S on Nov 24, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes it is and that is what I use most of the time.
Don't you risk burning your arm while turning the crank? That is steam coming out of those holes!
A shopper on Aug 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I was initially concerned about that too, but I found it's not actually a problem. It gets a little hot, but not nearly enough to give you a steam burn. That's while roasting coffee, which is exclusively what I use mine for (and which it's great at, by the way). Green coffee and popcorn have a similar water content (12% and 13%, respectively) and crack/pop within a similar temperature range, so I expect popping popcorn would be much the same. I suppose if you were roasting something with a higher water content, steam might become a problem.
Will it work on induction?
A shopper on Nov 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will work on an induction cooktop. I have a Wolf induction cooktop and bought it specifically for that reason. It works great! I love it and am very happy with it.
Will it work on an electric stove?
A shopper on Dec 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes of course. It works on all cook tops beautifully. I love mine! See comments from others above - results are great whether it is gas, electric or induction.
Does this work on induction cooktops?
A shopper on Nov 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes -- ours has worked well for several years on our induction cook top. We wash the pot itself by hand, but put the glass top in the dishwasher. This is a great alternative to cooking in aluminum for any stove top.
