Not good with Blackberries!
Good with tomatoes. Not good with blackberries. Constantly getting clogged and takes more time to clean out than it takes to strain the berries.

I love this attachment!
I don't know how I did without this attachment as long as I did. I used to use a juicer to make tomato juice and I would have to put the pulp it ejected through a food mill after that. Once through is all you need with this attachment. All you have left is the skin and seeds that it spits out! It's also great to process apples for applesauce! You just quarter them, put them in a pot with a little water, cook them till they're soft, then put them through the strainer!

Applesauce, berries, tomato sauce
I've had mine for over 10 years and have used it to make tomato sauce, apple & pear sauces, for removing seeds from blackberries, raspberries. Other than berries, I usually run the eliminated skins, etc. through a 2nd time which reduces that bulk by half again. Do NOT try to run berries through it twice as it could damage the machine.

Fruit & Veggie strainer parts
I've had a kitchen Aid stand mixer for years with the grinder. We make our own pork sausage with it. Love it!! Will this fruit and vegetable strainer work with the grinder that I already have?

The Best Attachment EVER!!!
I've used this attachment for years to make jellies. I don't even hull strawberries anymore. Wash them and throw them in! Cherries? No problem. Pull the stems, pit them, and throw them in. And I send them through twice! I make Balsamic strawberry and cherry jam for the whole family. Blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, they all go through. If you can jellies and jams and you own a Kitchenaid, this is a "must have" attachment!

Great for home canning!
I inherited mine from my grandmother, we have used it every year for at least 10 years to can 30+ Qtrs. of tomato sauce and 200+ Pts. of apple sauce. I run everything through at least twice, you do have to disassemble it and clean it about every half bushel but at that point I need a break any way.

I use this with the grinder base to make applesauce. Have used it for years. I cook all the apples in their skins for best flavor then strain and the skins come out into a compost bucket and the sauce comes out just perfect. I loaned it to my kids and they love it too.

Can you rice potatoes with this attachment?
Geraldine C on Sep 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I doubt it unless the potatoes were VERY soft. This is really not the intended purpose and the starchy potatoes would probably gum up the holes. As an aside, I am very disappointed with this attachment - I had sieved blackberries to remove some seeds before using the attachment to strain out the remaining seeds and the cone split. My brother had the identical experience, so my conclusion is that it doesn't do its intended task, much less an alternative use.
