Emile Henry Flame Chicken Roaster
Close![]()
Description
Grilling deliciously moist chicken with crispy skin is easier than ever with this vertical poultry roaster. Central stand ensures that heat circulates evenly around the entire bird, while the rounded base captures flavorful drips and doubles as a convenient roasting tray for aromatics and side dishes. Made from Burgundy clay, each roaster heats evenly and retains heat well, so poultry is evenly cooked on the inside as well as out. Produced one at a time, each piece of Emile Henry cookware is formed and hand-finished by skilled artisans.

Easy roasted chicken
I love this roaster. It is an easy meal to make and the chicken is so moist. It handles a 5 lb bird with no problem. The insert gives cooking instructions. I use the chicken for left overs and the chicken never drys out. I did get mine on sale. But it is worth full price.

Great for roasting
This is so much easier to clean than the wire versions of roasters I've used before.

It does the job - moist, tender, flavorful and leaves space at bottom for roasting some veggies!

I currently have a cast iron chicken roaster that I absolutely love. I'm assuming this roaster will do the same or better job and be easier to clean and maintain.

The website mentions that the clay is lead and cadmium free. What about the glaze? The clay really shouldn't matter because the clay is coated by the glaze which from what I learned in my college ceramic classes is essentially glass. And glass is non-porous, so even if the clay had lead or cadmium, it could only be an issue where the ceramic isn't glazed. However, the website doesn't mention about the glaze, which is what will come into direct contact with the food. And from what I also learned in my college ceramic classes is that nearly all red ceramic glazes contain lead, because lead is needed to get that red color in the glaze. Is the glaze lead and cadmium free?
BEST ANSWER: My Emile Henry Chicken Roaster is charcoal, not red but I am certain this item as well as any Emile Henry products do not contain any unhealthy materials such as lead or cadmium.

is this for 4-5 pouond chicken?
BEST ANSWER: yes, it's for a smaller chicken, no more than 5 lbs. There are no instructions given for cooking time and I found that it approximated that of a stuffed chicken. The center core doesn't seem to distribute heat but to take away from heat reaching the center.
