I have been searching for the perfect crockpot for well over ten years and I have finally found it! And not only is it an amazing crockpot, it cooks rice like a dream and is the easiest pressure cooker to use. I have not tried the yogurt function.

I like this because it is easy to use for one-pot meals. It turns out great food. I love the fact that I can sear my meats directly in the pot and then add the remaining ingredients to build the flavored. I purchased the stainless steel cooking insert as well. I cook my rice in the blue insert, put it aside to use with the main dish and then sear my meat and crock pot or pressure cook in the stainless insert. What's also nice about this is the one-pot cooking allows my kitchen to not get overheated in the hot summer months by having the stove and oven on.

My only issue with this is that is a little difficult to clean. There is a channel between the outer housing and the interior cooking that can get dirty from searing and cooking. I use cotton swabs to wipe it out and this works fine. The lid also has a seal that can retain favors from food. To reduce this, I remove the seal from the lid, soak the seal in baking soda and water and then hand wash. In my opinion, the little extra effort to keep it clean is a small price to pay for the wonderful results I get from using this.

It delivers what it promises
This multi cooker delivers what it promises. I was skeptical, but so far, everything that I have made using this multi cooker has turned out well. The first night, I made rice in my regular rice cooker alongside this multi cooker to see which one was better. The multi cooker won. The rice held its shape (didn't mush together) and was perfectly cooked. Next I tried the pressure cooker (carrot cake oatmeal). It was easy and came out perfectly - which is saying something, because I have never used a pressure cooker before. I have also made risotto (and the sauté function) with the same great results. Today I made a slow cooked butter chicken on low for 8 hours, and then it switched to warm for 4 hours. The chicken was not stringy, dry or overcooked ... we had seconds. Better than my regular slow cooker. It's huge - and tall - so be sure to measure it for your cabinet before you buy. But if you are wondering whether it does what it promises - it does (at least for us).

New favorite small appliance!
I have a stovetop pressure cooker, programmable crockpot and steam rice cooker. These are all large and take up valuable cabinet space. I decided to try this Fagor Lux...and my husband insisted on the 8 qt. size. I have made two meals in it so far. One used browning and pressure cooking and then simmer settings. The other used the rice setting. Everything was so easy...and one pot cooking for everything...what else can I say? I still have to use the other features, but so far I can find nothing negative to say...not even the price!

great for multiple uses
So far I have used this cooker to do rice; steam frozen fish; saute vegetables; cook collards, kale and chard for greens and beans. I have used it as a steamer, saute pot, rice cooker, pressure cooker and slow cooker and it has worked perfectly on all dishes I prepared.

Consistently outstanding results
I've used this multicooker just about once a week for the last 9 months. I LOVE it. Everything I make comes out delicious. Our favorite is making a beef chuck roast. The trick is to sear it first with the "brown" option. It allows me to brown/sear my roast before slow cooking it. It's so easy to use. One of the best features of this cooker is how easy it is to clean. Extremely easy to clean. I hated using my crockpot because it was kind of a hassle to clean. This multicooker makes cleaning so makes my cooking/cleaning a pleasure not a chore. I highly recommend this cooker. I've made beans, roasts, risotto, soup, stew, etc. I wish I got the large one for bigger family meals. Get it and enjoy it - it will make your life easier.

Excellent product; love it for making Indian vegetarian dishes
I was in search of one appliances which basically does it all and finally found one. I had this cooker for 203 months and already have cooked many recipes. The Indian recipes such as channa dal, spicy chickpea curry and dry masala cooked potatoes come out perfect. You just have to play with the settings first and then working this appliance is a breeze. I have even cooked pasta and comes out great in 5-6 minutes. Absolutely fantastic.

Great for my small apartment
I got this cooker as a gift and I loooooove it! I don’t have to use a ton of pots and pans while cooking now since everything can be thrown in the one pot. It’s super simple to use and to clean (big bonus cause I'm always too lazy to clean everything after cooking). I highly recommend this cooker!

Terrific Multi Cooker
I really do like the Fagor Lux Multi Cooker! It is the best small applicate the I could have purchased. Not only are my meals have beautiful presentation, the flavors are just unbelievable!

If you want to prepare restaurant styled meals at home where you control the quality ingredients used in your recipes, this is the too to use! I promise will not be disappointed.

I must add that in order to use this cooker effectively, do all of your prep work up front. Because this baby is fast and you don't want to over sauce' your vegetables and have them scorched while you are chopping or preparing other ingredients.

Great muli cooker.
Versatile electric cookware. I use it often for steaming potatoes, slow cooking various recipes such as stuffed peppers. It works great as a pressure cooker as well. Just made a batch of garbanzo beans. The taste is so much better than canned.

We love it!
It is a time saver. We regularly make yogurt and we were surprised this cut the time down. I haven't used a pressure cooker in the 18 years, but this is a delight. The inside pan is easy to clean. We need to explore more recipes with the Multicooker!

Fagor LUX™ Multicooker, Black
Fagor Lux Multicooker Stainless Steel Insert
Fagor Lux Multicooker Stainless Steel Insert
BEST ANSWER: Stainless steel is typically preferred when searing cuts of meat. Additionally, some people simply prefer stainless steel cookware over nonstick, as it typically lasts longer.

BEST ANSWER: Two multicookers are identical from a safety standpoint. Lux unit has more programmed foods on the one touch panel. It's more user friendly.
The Luxe model's pot is coated with ceramic, correct? I do not want a Teflon or hard anodized coating.
Sarmistha S on Aug 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It's listed as "Ceramic removable cooking pot."
Typical number of servings for 6 quart vs 8 quart?
Edwin W on May 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This depends on what is being prepared. For example, a hearty stew can serve 4-6, while a sauce or dip can be part of an appetizer that could serve twice that number or more. These numbers reflect the 6 quart pot, so the 8 quart pot can yield 6-8 servings for the same food type. While I don't yet have much experience cooking with this pot, the associated recipe efile for this pot contains specific suggested servings for each recipe.
Some electric pressure cookers advertise canning as one of their functions. This isn't mentioned with the Luz Multicooker. Is it possible to use it for canning?
Thea D on Apr 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely should not use this for canning given that it does not have the correct pressure settings. Get the All-American pressure canner for that purpose, fantastic well made unit.
On the slow cooking function, can you delay the start time? So you can set everything up, leave the house and it will start 3-4 hours later?
Vicki S on Sep 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We have used the slow cooker delay, it appears to be up to 12 hours, but the pressure cooker appears to only be a 6 hour delay.
If the ceramic pot breaks can you get a replacement?
Carolyn W on May 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The inside pot is nonstick metal so theres not a problem with breakage.
how many cups of rice does the 4 qt make?
A shopper on Jan 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I make 1 cup and it is perfect.
What are the instructions for making yogurt?
A shopper on Jul 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You can use pretty much any type of milk. You add the milk to the cooking pot insert and use the slow cooker low setting to heat the milk to about 180 degrees. Then cool the milk down to about 100 degrees (I just set the cooking pot insert into ice water). Finally, ad a small amount of starter (this can be store bought yogurt), place the lid on and use the yogurt cycle for 8 to 24 hours depending on how tangy you like your yogurt. It's important not to move the pot during the cycle. I like to drain the yogurt for a short while to thicken it so it is more like Greek yogurt.

A shopper on Aug 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: $29.95.
how does one decide between 6 or 8 quart?
A shopper on Dec 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Keep in mind you can only fill it ½ to 2/3rds full depending on what you are cooking. ½ for beans etc where it will froth and 2/3rds for other foods. So in essence its really 3-4 qt between the 6 and 8 qt size. I went with 8 qt and Im glad I did.

Fagor LUX™ Multicooker, Black
Fagor LUX™ Multicooker, Black
Breville Fast Slow Pro Multicooker, 6 qt.
Breville Fast Slow Pro Multicooker, 6 qt.
BEST ANSWER: I own the 8 qt Fagor lux. I have used most functions and it performs better than any other cooker I have owned. It makes perfect soup in slo cooker, in pressure cooker it makes it cheesecake, stews, and main dishes with ease and everything was beyond expectations. I like the ease of how it operates by just setting the buttons. I have noticed that it comes to pressure much quicker than my other pressure cookers that I have owned. Best purchase I have made. I also own the Fagors 6 qt cooker and stove pressure cooker.
Does anyone have experience with this product vs. the Instant Pot?
Amy S on Feb 9, 2017

BEST ANSWER: At this time, the only accessory we carry is the stainless steel insert.
I noticed that the product was made in China. Is the quality affected because of the place that this was made?
Isabel D on Feb 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I purchased two of these as gifts. I have not used it myself, but both were very happy with it and had no complaints.
I'm sorry I do not have personal input to offer you. But Sur la table is my favorite store and I have never been unhappy with any of my purchases. I believe they are a name we can trust.
This may sound like a crazy question but, living in ultra small quarters, I am trying to whittle down # of appliances. Could I conceivably boil water and make pasta in this? Oddly our current burner isn't hot enough to do that! It would be great if possible because then I would not need to buy an induction burner. Thanks all.
A shopper on Dec 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It's possible since you can cook rice and we traditionally think of needing boiling water to do that. . Another option is you can cook macaroni and cheese in the pressure cooker app without having to boil the macaroni. It's a great machine and I'm still learning what and how to cook with the different programs.
Does the brown rice setting do a good job cooking brown rice? I'd be replacing my rice cooker and I cook brown rice all the time.
Debra K on Mar 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I haven't tried it with brown rice yet, but it cooks white rice better than my old rice cooker did. I've also used it to cook barley and pasta, and both came out great. Hope this helps!
Does it come with a cookbook?
A shopper on May 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The Fagor Lux Multicooker comes with a small paper cookbook. The included cookbook has instructions to download a larger illustrated cookbook from the Fagor Website.
Can you cook a small turkey breast in this cooker?
A shopper on Dec 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes! I browned and then pressure cooked my Thanksgiving turkey breast & 2 large thighs in there this year and it was amazing.
Does the food stick at the bottom? I have one that is another brand and food sticks and burns. is this nonstick?
Ninosca M on Oct 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: if you are using it as a pressure cooker, I can't imagine that the food will stick because you always add a liquid. If you use it as a crock pot, use liners that you buy at the grocery store. I haven't had a problem with sticking and cleans nicely.
How does the steam function work? Do you need a separate steam basket?
A shopper on Jul 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: One does need to keep items being steamed above the water level. While Fagor makes it own steam basket, I have used a simple steam bottom that expands like a fan and sits about an inch above the bottom of the pot. Using the pressurized steam function, cooking veges only takes a couple of minutes. I use some tongs to remove the steamed items rather than removing the basket upon completion.
How many people can the 4 quart serve? Is it big enough for a family of 6?
A shopper on Dec 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I use a 6 quart Fargo and love it tonight I'm doing a Chile with ground Bison for the 2 of us. This allows us to freeze portions for quick meals in the future. Serving sizes very dependent on recipes one of my cook books shows the recipes for 2-3.5 Qt, 4-5.5 Qt and 6-8 Qt. units with serving sizes of 3 to 8 individuals. Based on this one might assume that a 4 Qt, would serve 5-6 individuals. I would suggest that you look at recipes specifically for a 4 Qt. cooker. My second thought would be that for a family of 6 the 4 Qt may not allow for larger portions or seconds.

Don - Enjoy your Fagor
What is the maximum temperature it reaches? Could you add oil to it and fry in it, getting hot enough to fry reliably (i.e fries, onion rings, fried tofu, etc...?
Mark H on Dec 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The manual advises ..."Never deep fry or pressure fry in the cooker. It is dangerous & may cause fire & serious damage." The manual also indicates the "brown" function reaches a temperature of 356 degrees F. I have browned meat in a couple tablespoons of oil, before pressure or slow cooking, with excellent results. But based on the instructions, I wouldn't use more than a coating of oil in the unit.
Do you need the 8 quart to do chicken stock?
Sandi M on Apr 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: In the associated cookbook, it calls for 6 cups of water plus chicken and such. The yield is 3 qt, so use the larger pot if you need to produce more stock, otherwise even the small cooker will work.
how about oatmeal for the morning?
A shopper on Feb 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Easy! The time-delay function allows you to delay the cooking start time for up to 6 hours. From there you have many different cooking options--low pressure cooking, steaming, risotto, or slow-cooker (low 190 degrees or high 212 degrees) and each has an automatic keep warm function at the end. To set it up: select the cooking option, set the length of cooking time, select the time-delay function, set the length of time to delay the start of cooking, then press start. I use it for steel-cut oatmeal all the time.
the pressure cook button when the keeps blinking even though the clock is counting down - the instructions note that the pressure cooker button should be solid when the cook time begins?
A shopper on May 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I sounds like you may have a warrantee issue. I would suggest you contact Fagor customer service with your concern.
