Makes a great steak!
I used the Staub Pure Grill to make a steak. I left quite a bit of fat on the steak to keep it moist and the raised grill lines helped that excess fat drip away from the steak while it cooked. It turned out perfectly juicy with golden grill lines on it.
As a Sur La Table employee, I am always looking for convenience when it comes to cookware. This grill isn't too heavy, making it relatively easy to maneuver and clean. It was a little tricky to clean between the raised grill lines, but the non-stick surface helps keep food from sticking. I chose to hand-wash the grill, but it may be easier to clean in the dishwasher.

Staub Grill Pans are the best
I was searching for a gift and was so happy to see that Staub came out with this 10.5" grill pan. The quality is unparalleled! The cast iron heats up quickly and evenly, but the enamel coating make cleanup easy when you can put it in the dishwasher.

Nice grill pan that's not too big or too heavy
I wanted a grill pan I could use on a radiant heat glass top electric stove. That eliminated the anodized aluminum grill pans since they are stamped, so their bottoms are rippled rather than flat. I also didn't want the maintenance of traditional cast iron or the super heavy weight of these usually large pans, though their bottoms are flat rather than rippled. Then I found the Staub 10" grill pan which is smaller and so lighter in weight than other grill pans, plus the two loop handles make it super easy to maneuver. The enamel coating on the exterior and the interior surfaces means no maintenance but you still have the advantages of cast iron - the pans gets hot and stays hot after you add the meat or veggies. Cooks well and predictably. Clean up isn't that hard in my experience - I just soak when the pan when it has cooled and wash it later. The enameled surface doesn't mind the soaking and you don't have to worry about rust. I pretty much love this grill pan!

Perfect for just the two of us
Hard to believe but this grill pan really makes those nice grill marks. Grills steaks and pork chops in minutes. I don't put mine in the dishwasher, I just wash it by hand. Let it cool, pour dishwashing liquid, & water, wash it the next day. Would highly recommend it.

Great grill pan!
Giving it four out of five stars because of the cleaning, although if I spray it with a release agent first, then soak it after using it with soap and hot water, it seems to clean up pretty good. I have this pan with the glass top that comes with another model. That top also steams and keeps splatters from happening. I start off with grilling meat, fish, or chicken on a med-high heat with some spray on oil, then once turned, cover it and continue to cook for a shorter period of time. Because of the cast iron, it carries the heat evenly and gives good grill marks. I would definitely recommend this pan to anyone.

Love Staub products!
This is another great Staub product. I have used it to grill corn, shrimp and zucchini and everything has come out perfectly. I haven't had terrible cleaning problems that I have read from other reviews. I highly recommend it!

YOU CAN’T GO WRONG
Beautiful pan to add to my collection. Cast iron cooking is so efficient and creates better flavor than using an ordinary pan. Multi-functional to use as a grill OR a steam grill. The even heat conductivity makes cooking healthy meat or veggies recipes faster than using my electric “indoor griller”. Food has turned out fantastic every time. Keeps food warm for a long time. Without the lid it is a perfect size for panini’s as well. Super easy to clean. Perfect for my glass top stove. While I am still experimenting with recipes, this little grill pan is sturdy and durable, totally worth the price! A Keeper!!!!

Very hard to clean
I found this pan very hard to clean. I did put in the dishwasher and that worked OK, but left cooking stuff on there. I ended up going back to the store for advice and they helped me get it clean, but then said they wouldn't recommend putting it in the dishwasher.
I got the version with the lid, because I thought I could steam while grilling, and it cooked the meat really fast, to the point it was almost too done.
I think this pan is a lot of hype, but doesn't deliver.

Why did you choose this?
Sur La Table Store
I choose this as a gift for my sister because got one for Christmas and it is a great little grill perfect for 2 people. Unlike whats say, it is easy clean up if you soak it and then use a brush, like a toothbrush not a wire brush. It is nice for salmon and steaks and grilled cheese sandwiches and vegetables and you can use on top of the stove and in the stove and it gets really hot, so it cooks food well. And,it isn't too heavy. And they pretty.

Needed a new grill pan that would work with my induction stove and this one will. Plus the Straub reputation and quality was another reason for buying.

How much does it weigh?
I have questions about the different finishes available on the grill pan. Will the matte black or the colored finish hold up better? Is there any difference in how they cook?
BEST ANSWER: The only difference is exterior color, the interior/grill portion are the same matte finish. Therfore the performance will be the same.

I'd like to get this but doesn't stove-top grilling in a pan like this spatter all over the kitchen stove and floor?
BEST ANSWER: Very little; however, I did notice oil residue on the overhead Cabinets door; so a cover is recommended; you may not have this issue, if your exhaust fan vents to the Outdoor, which mine does not!.

Can this pan go into the oven also?
I'm torn between getting the 10.5" and the 12" pan. Don't want both, so would you recommend getting the larger pan with the lid because of the option of the lid and it's basically 2 pans in one with the steaming effect? Does anybody have both and which one do they use the most?

Staub Pure Grill, 10.5"

BEST ANSWER: In all honesty, I would get the 12" steam grill! Both pans are the same, can both go into the oven up to 500 degrees and both can go onto the cooktop. The 12" is bigger than the 10" and you cannot make a pan grow. And the lid give you options. If money is not the option, I would go with the 12" pan. Love that you can put the gill pan in the oven and get it searing hot and then sear cook a steak and get the outside cooked and leave the center warm and not soooo cooked if you dont want. Enjoy!!

Tough question; how would it compare to the similar LeCreuset bistro grill product?
BEST ANSWER: I have both the LeCreuset grill and this pan. I like this pan because the ridges are higher and you can get a really nice sear with the pan and it doesn't leave the meat sitting in any of the oil or fat because the ridges are set high.

Can this go under the oven broiler?
BEST ANSWER: Yes It is for that reason I purchased this product. I love salmon and fresh fish so this pan is perfect for par grilling the fish and then finishing it off under the broiler. No longer need a frying pan plus a dish for the oven. Best of all it looks great on the table so from stove to oven to the table

BEST ANSWER: I don't see why it couldn't go in the oven, but I wouldn't put it in the oven to cook something. I might move it to the oven just to keep something warm after I had finished cooking it.

Is there a Staub lid that fits the Staub Pure Grill, 10.5" pan?
Can someone tell me if the pan is heavy??? I have arthritis in both hands and I find it hard
now to lift heavy pans? Thank you
now to lift heavy pans? Thank you
BEST ANSWER: The pan weighs about 4 lbs. I use it on my electric stove. As long as you do not slide it across the stove it's fine. Love it. I have cooked hamburgers, steak on it so far. Let it cool before washing. I found that using the Sponges with the groves in it, it cleans up nice.dry it well before putting away. All in all it's great.

Should I use the Staub grill pan or Le Creuset square grill pan? How do they compare?
BEST ANSWER: I prefer the round pan because it fits my burner so there is even heat distribution across the pan. I often braise in this pan an finish the cooking in the oven which this pan handles exceptionally well. I have le creuset for most of my cookware because of their quality and lifetime warranty but I love pan.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is. I purchased this pan as a gift for my sister for her new home. She has an induction cooktop and I personally have used this pan on her cooktop. One hint: let the pan heat slowly at a medium temperature, not at high heat. Clean-up will be much easier!

Can this pan be used on a glass top burner stove without damaging the burners? I have read you should not use a cast iron pan on a glass top, and was wondering if the enamel coating avoids that prohibition.
BEST ANSWER: This is similar to a cast iron, I'm not sure if it would scratch your top or not. Glass tops need perfectly flat pans to cook well (its why I dislike them, but that is another matter). The enamel would likely protect the glass from scratching. I'd go to a store and take a look at them to double check.
