LeCreuset is the BEST
I have been cooking with Le Creuset for 46 years now. I purchased this piece in honey-it is a fabulous color. Hope you will have more pieces available in HONEY. These pots hold up and wash very well. Love to make white sauce in them-perfect every time.

This is a cross between a braiser and a Dutch Oven, so I think it is more functional than the large 5 qt. braiser which is fairly limited in function because it is so shallow. I had wanted this in Rosemary, but it was sold-out by the time I went to purchase it. I chose the new Honey color because it is a warm creamy yellow that I hope will compliment my pieces in Cassis and Rosemary. Warm yellow compliments the cool grey undertones of my home.

La Creuset is the best and so is Surlatable. What more need be said?

Sur La Table always provides customers with top quality merchandise at the best possible value! I needed a pan with a bigger footprint and this one looks perfect for the job!

I have many Le Creuset pieces but this one is by far the most versatile. The wide base allows for easy browning or searing of vegetables or meats before braising or slow cooking a soup or stew. It is perfect for one pot dishes and looks beautiful as well.

Between the signature wide and the signature round dutch ovens, which seems to be the best for overall cooking needs?

BEST ANSWER: If you want to put in whole chickens then go with the deeper one, if that's not something you would do, then go with the wider oven, my therory was to get the taller one so I could have it both ways, putting in a whole chicken if I wanted or cutting it up, either way it would fit. Maybe, later buy one of each???

BEST ANSWER: I have several Le Creuset French ovens in different sizes, but my favorite is the large wide round because it is the most versatile. The very wide cooking surface makes it perfect for browning meats and vegetables before braising or slow cooking. It is wide enough to allow room for plenty of vegetables along with a roast or chickens, and the flavor is intensified since there is less air between the food and the lid while cooking. In addition, since the sides are lower than the traditional round ovens, it is easier for serving and looks beautiful on a buffet.
