Timeless
As a Le Creuset collector for over 20 years, I am always excited for the new colors. Aside from being a showstopper, I use my ovens to prepare just about any meal. A must for every kitchen.

Love it.
I own the large oval piece and it can be too heavy when it's full. This one is easier to move around, and I LOVE being able to move from the stove top to oven.

So great for bigger stews and roasting whole chickens. Pricey but expected.

Well used in less than 30 days
This Dutch oven is a work horse. I have made several meals and even baked bread in it and I haven't even had it 30 days. LOVE IT.

Still a classic!
I have used a smaller Dutch oven from Le Creuset for 30+ years and love the results every time. My new larger Dutch Oven is just as wonderful but allows me the option of making larger quantities when necessary! Very pleased!!

Okay
This is my 2nd dutch oven. It's replacing an older one that had a thumb sized piece of the porcelain pop off the bottom. I always use wooden utensils so I don't know what caused it. LeCreuset "lifetime" guarantee isn't very friendly so I replaced it with this one. I chose the SurLe Table one because of the unique color. After using it 3 times now the bottom is sort of discolored and it won't go away with cleaning. Sort ot disappointing for the prices they charge. Hopefully my older one was a fluke and the discoloration isn't indicative of a future similar issue. They do a great job cooking but the guarantee stinks and I don't think they should have any problems for the high cost.

Between the signature wide and the signature round dutch ovens, which seems to be the best for overall cooking needs?

Le Creuset Signature Round Dutch Oven, 7.25 qt.

BEST ANSWER: If you want to put in whole chickens then go with the deeper one, if that's not something you would do, then go with the wider oven, my therory was to get the taller one so I could have it both ways, putting in a whole chicken if I wanted or cutting it up, either way it would fit. Maybe, later buy one of each???

I have a lot of Le Creuset pots. They are only marked by numbers. I'd like to get another 26. What size is that quartwise?
How much does it weigh?
BEST ANSWER: The 4 1/2-Qt. is 9 lb. 10 oz. with lid.
The 5 1/2-Qt. is 11 lb. 4 oz. with lid.
The 7 1/4-Qt. is 12 lb. 13 oz. with lid.

Between the signature wide and the signature round dutch ovens, which seems to be the best for overall cooking needs?

Le Creuset Signature Round Dutch Oven, 7.25 qt.

BEST ANSWER: I have several Le Creuset French ovens in different sizes, but my favorite is the large wide round because it is the most versatile. The very wide cooking surface makes it perfect for browning meats and vegetables before braising or slow cooking. It is wide enough to allow room for plenty of vegetables along with a roast or chickens, and the flavor is intensified since there is less air between the food and the lid while cooking. In addition, since the sides are lower than the traditional round ovens, it is easier for serving and looks beautiful on a buffet.

how much does the 7.25 quart dutch oven weigh?
I just got the 7.25 dutch oven as a gift from my kids. I love it but after the first use of browning beef the light colored enamel is stained. What can I use to clean the stains without damaging the finish? The recomnended hot soapy water isn't doing the job. Any recommendations would be helpful!
BEST ANSWER: Highly recommend “Barkeepers Friend” to clean it. Le Creuset will slightly darken over time naturally, but Barkeepers Friend IS a friend to keep it in good shape. When the pot is damp, put some of the powder on a dishcloth or scrubber and work it into the pot, let sit for a while then scrub away and finish with a super hot rinse and dry.

What is the inside depth (without the lid) and diameter?
BEST ANSWER: Mine is stamped 6.7 liters on the bottom. I measure the inside depth as 4 7/8 inches near the side, 11 inches across the inside at the top.

Is the item returnable for another color or another item of comparable value?
Which size french oven do you feel is the most versatile? I am purchasing one for my daughter and don't know whether to go with a 51/2 or 41/2 quart.
BEST ANSWER: My wife has been using the 2 3/4 qt Le Creuset for many years. When she makes anything it usually fills the pot to its brim. We went with the 5 1/2 qt to get something larger but not outrageous. We also got our sone, who loves to cook, a 3 1/2 qt of his own. I'd get your daughter the 5 1/2 qt as it will handle all of her cooking needs without filling to the brim. I doubt that she will need to then get a larger size in the future.

what is the knob made of ? what material ?
BEST ANSWER: The dutch oven came with a black handle that says Le Creuset across the middle. I believe it is the phenolic plastic that the replacement handles are made of. I also have a metal stainless steel 18/10 handle in a separate package, but I can't remember whether that came with the dutch oven or I purchased it at the same time.

All right, bakers: for making artisan bread/boule which size do you recommend- the 7.25 or the 5.5 qt? Also, pros/cons of the Le Creuset (white interior) vs Staub (black interior and the nibs on interior lid) for baking breads in a Dutch oven. Sigh. Decisions, decisions! I appreciate the advice!
