Lives up to every expectation
This pot is wonderful. Bigger than the norm and so well constructed. When it says the lid seal tight to hold in the flavor they are so right. At a full simmer or boil you see nothing escape. When you take off the lid you can see all the flavor that just goes right back into the food. The color is amazing. Deep rich forest green. Heavy duty. Overnight, this has become my go to pot.

The right tool for the right job
I'm no chef, but I could have played one on TV if I'd had this sooner. I received it for a Christmas gift and have used it twice: The first time in the oven for Beef Burgundy.
Not only did it cut an hour off the normal 4- 41/2 hour cooking time, everything was done to perfection. Then I tried the more mundane scalloped potatoes and ham in a cheese sauce, also in the oven. I easily fit 5#'s of potatoes in the Staub, reduced the heat to 300 degrees and it still cooked everything uniformly tender an hour quicker than I expected.
There is no burning on the bottom or charring on the sides.
I do rub the Staub with a light coat of olive oil with each use and clean up is a breeze. Expensive, but worth every penny.

A Beautiful Workhorse in the kitchen
I LOVE this product. It is truly a workhorse in the kitchen and I use it often. I made a fabulous Breaciole in it and could not have been more pleased with the performance. Also have done several soups and stews. This is the perfect cooker for those. Low and slow cooking brings out so much flavor. I leave this out on my stove all the time since it is so lovely to look at too!

Better quality than Le Creuset
This is a beautiful piece, but extremely heavy. However, doubt I will go back to Le Creuset as this much easier to clean with its black interior. It can't stain inside. Very attractive to serve from for dishes like Beef Burgundy. Be sure to have a helper to help lift or carry, if need be. Have bought another Staub piece since this fist one.

My New Staub
We love our new Staub! It's beautiful and talk about "form with function" This cookware is extremely efficient. I can simmer something all night and hardly lose any flavor or moisture to evaporation.

Far Superior to Le Creuset
The finish on the entire Staub line is phenomenal....deep. rich and durable. Lid fits extremely tight, trapping all the steam inside the pot. The thick thickness of the metal guarantees even and thorough cooking.. Truly a work of art...The quality is so fine... I hesitated to cook with it.....You will not find a better made pot...period!

Glazing failed
Bought this and two other colors a couple of years ago. I am very careful about washing and generally love this, but the lid that once was shiny and beautiful, is now dull and patchy. The grenadine color, however, is still like new. Will be contacting Staub for replacement. Overall, these cook amazingly: nothing burns, clean up is easy. If it weren't for a major cosmetic failure, I'd happily give 5 stars.

This one is a frustrating failure!
Staub makes good pots, but this isn't one of them. The overall construction is perfect, but the exterior enamel coating is a disaster. After frying some fish, I cleaned the pot with a sponge and dish liquid - nothing hard or abbrasive. The oil that dripped down the sides wasn't coming off, so I gently cleaned the pot with Bar Keeper's friend like I've done with my Staub matte black and Le Creuset pots. Suddenly the finish went dull and the exterior was clouded and covered with indelible drip marks. Nothing I've tried has corrected the surface and questions to Staub have gone unanswered.
Based on experience I would not recommend anyone buy a Staub colored enamel pot. But conversely, I would say their matte black range is superior to all others - including my Le Creuset.

Our first Staub- we were looking for a this capacity and the reviews on Staub were good. this has proven to be my go to work-horse. We love roasting chicken in this dutch-oven. if you are making casseroles or stews and need to make dumplings on top of your casserole or stew, both this and the Staub essential oven (3.75 qt) work very well. Great quality, heat-transfer and fantastic clean-up.

Does Staub cookware come with a California Prop 65 warning?
A shopper on Nov 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Only if it comes with a knob made of brass.
I am looking for a large round cocotte in Pine. What is the largest size Sur La Table sells? Is this color being discontinued right now? I don't see a lot to choose from.
Jack M on Jul 24, 2016

Staub Pine Oval Cocotte, 5.75 qt.
Staub Pine Cocotte, 4 qt.
Staub Pine Cocotte, 4 qt.
Staub Pine Mini Cocotte
Staub Pine Mini Cocotte
BEST ANSWER: 5.75qt is the largest available in the pine color. It is not being discontinued at this time.
How does the Pine color differ from the Basil color?
John M on Aug 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Pine is a deeper darker green.
can the stab cocotte go in the oven?
margaret b on Dec 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes it can go into the oven which is one of the fabulous things about this product. You just have to make sure you have the oven proof handle. The one in the picture is. I wouldn't put it into an oven over 475 degrees, but usually you are wanting to do low and slow cooking anyway. I LOVE this piece and keep it out on the stove all the time because it is so lovely!
Does this oval version have self-basting spikes on the lid? It doesn't say in the specifications.
A shopper on Nov 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does and they work beautifully.
Do you think there will be a 5.5 quart round cocotte in pine?
A shopper on Sep 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There should be? I ordered one on 8/27/15 and was notified on 8/29/15 that because of it's popularity it was backordered. It was delivered on 9/12/15. You might want to check with the store.
If you had a choice of Staub's 5.75 Qt. Round, Oval or 4 Qt. Round, Oval which would you get and why? I already have an 8Qt. oval from another company.
maxine H on Nov 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I chose the 5.75 oval because I wanted something that could perfectly fit a whole chicken/duck/brisket without being too large & cumbersome for everyday use. I already have a round 5qt for other dishes like soup/chili where the shape doesn't matter as much. I absolutley love my oval cocotte!
What color is this, Pine or Basil? Thank you!
A shopper on Sep 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have 2 green Staub cooking vessels. The one currently shown in the catalogue is called "pine", and is a darker, muted green with shades of olive. I bought the second pot a couple of years ago at an outlet, and I'm not sure what the color was called. It is a brighter, rather Christmas-y green. Perhaps this is the "basil" color you mention.
How does Staub cookware compare to Le Creuset for oven cooking?
Sherri R on Aug 27, 2016
Staub Pine Oval Cocotte, 5.75 qt.
Staub Pine Oval Cocotte, 5.75 qt.
Le Creuset® Fennel Oval French Oven, 6¾ qt.
Le Creuset® Fennel Oval French Oven, 6¾ qt.
BEST ANSWER: Staub seems, heavier, if that is even possible. The black interior cleans up much better than Le Creuset. Have many Le Creuset and am now a convert. It is very impressive to serve Boeuf Bourgignon from this casserole.
Very well made, but heavy.
Where are Staub products made?
A shopper on Aug 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: They are made in France. I just got mine and am planning first meal for this weekend.
Does the oval shape cook evenly on a round cooktop burner? Such as browning in the pot before finishing in the oven.
A shopper on Jan 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have browned meat and onions in the oval pot before adding soup or stew ingredients and all seemed to come out well. We have a Viking Range with gas stovetop. I use flame spreaders to even out the heat when slow cooking or simmering but those still are only in the center. I've also roasted a whole chicken in the oval pot with vegetables and spices and it was perfect all the way through. Plus, we all love the dark forest green color. Good luck!
I bought 2 of the pine series. I made sure my sku is correct for what they list as pine, but it shows olive as the color on the box. So do I have olive or pine?
Christopher R on Dec 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I had the same question you have only with the colors being reversed. I thought I was buying olive earlier this year but the boxes listed the color as pine. Since the color is beautiful and it has a deep olive base, I thought the company had changed the name of the color from olive to pine. I think there is only one color but I'm not sure why we're seeing two colors listed.
Will a whole roasting chicken fit in the 5.75?
A shopper on Nov 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Depends on the side of the chicken. I think it would fit up to 12 lbs, I would say max 15lbs.
What is the slender oval shaped
Pot in the picture called on the far left? I can't seem to see it for sale.
Kitty kat on Aug 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It is the Terrine. It was a limited edition for 2015.
Bought this, used it, LOVE it but a question: Is the inside actually enameled? If so, how? I use cast a lot and it doesn't seem different from my other cast cookware other than the iron does seem to be a much better quality. So is it enameled or just treated a certain way? Can I use this for acid based (tomato) recipes?
A shopper on Jan 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: My husband used to make tomato sauce for canning. It worked perfectly. Easy cleanup
