Great Machine with a few drawbacks
I've had this machine for a week now and am very impressed. It replaced my 15 year old Jura Impressa S9 that finally wore out...the S9 is another super-automatic espresso machine that is still available but not in the silver color we wanted. The Z6 is a big step up in most ways, with the latest technology. Having "1-touch" functionality to dispense coffee and milk/foam without moving the cup is very convenient. It has lots of "specialty" coffee drink "recipes" preprogrammed at the touch of a button, and it is easy to customize them or add more. While this machine only has one boiler to heat the coffee and milk, the process was pretty much as fast as on my old 2-broiler machine. The spout moves up and down to fit a wide range of cups and even travel mugs. Cleaning is also automated and easy. Plus it looks great and fits under our cabinets.

Of course, on the main deliverable....the tastes great. My sister-in-law just visited from Australia and said the flat whites were just like home....excellent, and better than now at Starbucks. And the other recipes offer some fun at dinner parties.

As to drawbacks and why only 4 stars....nothing huge, but enough in total to get a 1 star demerit. The main issue is I wish the milk could be made hotter. You can individually adjust the heat of the coffee, milk and froth. I find the coffee maxes out at about 170 degrees....I see that is within the recommended range of most coffee experts and it seems fine. The milk/froth, however, max out at about 136 degrees on my machine. Jura support says anything about 130 is their target. That is substantially below the 150 degrees I see mentioned in several reference guides. The result is that drinks with lots of milk in them come out less hot than I'd but quite drinkable right away with no need to blow on them or wait to cool off a bit.

Other small negatives: I'd prefer the on/off button to be towards the front of the machine, rather than the top/back corner as now. And I'd also like the chute for using pre-ground decafe to be towards the front of the machine, rather than at the top/ it, it requires you to have a couple of inches open above the machine, or have it on a sliding tray as I do.

All in all, I'm quite happy with this machine....great coffee, lots of functionality, easy to use, looks cool. And backed by a great support team at Jura USA. It is pricey, but worth it to me.

Great machine and incredible service
We had a Jura Z7 that died and went to the Thousand Oaks store to get a new one. We looked at all the models and decided to purchase a Z6. Espresso and milk drinks are very hot and delicious and the automated features are amazing. In additional we received exemplary service from Pamela and Todd. They were both knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and attentive. It is refreshing to get the service we received AND an amazing super automatic espresso machine. Great job Sur la table.

Great product from Jura!
Love the new Z6!! Coffee tastes even better than my old J9. What really sold me is the ease of cleaning the milk frothing system - put the end of the milk hose that would've gone into the Cool Control, or a pitcher of milk, into the cleaning container and hit rinse! You don't have to take apart the frother for cleaning after every use.

My favorite Jura so far
I bought my very first Jura back in 2005, marveling at how it mimicked the cafe models in preparing specialty coffee drinks so easily in my own home. Over the years, the company has continued to improve the products they offered and I have upgraded twice, giving my still good machines to either a friend or this time to charity. The Jura Z6 might be my favorite as it does everything so easily. The milk process is so integrated now and so easy to clean after using. The taste of the beverages is amazing, the both the bean holder and water capacities have been made big enough to serve so many cups of coffee that the refill times are lessened greatly. This machine is practically fool proof - easy to learn, customize and maintain. I thought the other machines were terrific, but this is by far the best and well-worth the investment.

Big improvement over previous version
We have owned 4 different Jura models over the past 15 years. This is undoubtedly the best. Many of the annoying features of the previous models have been adjusted. Cleaning of foam apparatus is much easier. Changing coffee strength and amount are much quicker and you can get a tall glass under the spout.
Bean receptacle is much simpler to access. Cleaning machine per manual is essential. Dont skip cleaning when told to do so by program. Worth the price.

It’s ok
Mine worked great for a year then found out the ground coffee shoot didn’t work which caused the whole machine to stop working, fortunately it was still under warranty. I’m going to extend the warranty to avoid expensive repairs. Wish I could get 21 grams of coffee instead of the 15-16 the machine offers. I also wish the steamed milk was hotter as it cools off my espresso drinks (yes, it’s set at the hottest setting). I also don’t like that the clean the milk system light comes on after 1-2 milk drinks. Make sure not to buy oily beans as it will clog up the machine. If I try to add more than 30 seconds of milk it begins to sputter. Don’t even think about putting sweetened condensed milk into the milk frothing container, it won’t work. Half and half will work and tastes great. Would like if it had two separate grinders like the Giga. It’s a nice machine, but would I iI buy it again? Probably not.

We purchased this for our home and liked it so much we bought a second one for the office. The water on the side is really convenient if you are puting this under cabinets. The milk is a bit cumbersome if you don't use it all the time - cleaning seems to be more than anyone is willing to do. We have it if we need it, but the coffee is so good the latte drinkers have been living happily without it. It took a lot of research to land on this model. Jura has a lot of TM'd technology that is impossible to compare. This one just seemed to have a wide range of capabilities and while I can't really compare to other models - we are very happy with this one.

Two cons:
The head does move up and down, but is not tall enough to be travel cup friendly. We purchased some barrista mugs for those occasions.

The customization has to be saved, e.g. you can't change the coffee strength for only one cup. Or at least we have been unable to figure it out. Maybe google can help.

Absolutely love the coffee from this machine. Very easy to use. Many options. The milk frothing system works very well. If you like fine coffee and want to have the option of drinks with or without milk. This is an excellent choice.

I have had 2 Jura machines over the last 15 years and found them to be the absolute best for home brewed beverages that taste as good as or better than my local coffee shop. Given the improvements in the newer machines, I am again looking to upgrade and found this newer model to have a few of the newer options offered by Jura. My current machine works perfectly still, so I will give it to charity :) and allow someone else to enjoy it.

Does this machine include smart connect?
A shopper on Feb 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, but you can purchase a JURA Smart Connect bluetooth transmitter that you can plug into the coffee machine. With the JURA Smart Connect transmitter you can use an app (Android and/or iOS) to wirelessly operate and program the machine and link up to various accessories such as the JURA Cool Control Wireless milk cooler.

what is the maximum amount of grams of coffee I can get in one coffee, espresso, etc? Is it 16 grams, like the giga? Thx
A shopper on Jan 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is.
Does it come with a stainless milk container?
A shopper on Apr 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, but you can buy one of several versons from Jura, or a glass one that lets you see how much milk is still in it. Pretty pricey though, and doesn't seem to be the thickest glass.
Wondering how to make just a simple Cafe Latte with it? It says you can make a Latte Macchiatto, but what about a Latte?
A shopper on Mar 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Though there is no preset for an american "latte", you can program a preset yourself to your taste. There is factory preset "flat white", which is similar in this particular case.
Can it be connected to a direct water line?
Craig F on Jul 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Currently there is no plumb-kit option from Jura. It cannot be connected directly to a water line without significant modifications which would almost certainly void your warranty.
Does it have the option for two types of beans - caffeine and decaf?
A shopper on Sep 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: While you can use either decaf or regular beans in the "hopper" when you load your beans, it only has one storage for beans, so you have to choose which to use (and it is not an easy thing to remove beans from the hopper after you load them - there will be one or two beans to far down into the grinder that will not be accessible). I solve this problem by keeping my standard brew - caffeinated in the hopper and I grind decaf beans as I need them and use the single serve, ground bean option on the top of the machine to feed it for a decaf cup or cups as I need them. The grounds flow beautifully into the machine and still make a great cup of coffee. The only down side is it is more manual and to get that freshly ground bean aroma and intense flavor, you would need to grind just before you decide to make a cup that way. Hope this helps. It is a terrific machine, my 4th as I love them and keep upgrading to get all the newer features.
I just got the Z6 and the manual says to empty the water tank every day. Is that really necessary if you use the clearyl filter?
James D on Mar 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you are using the filter, I would actually leave some water in the tank to keep the filter cartridge moist and prolong its life and strength. I tend to have about 2 inches of water left each morning and will then just dump it and add fresh water before I brew new cups. Also, if you are not going to run the machine for a few days, I find emptying the water but taking the filter out and putting it in a container filled with water in my frig also keeps it fresh and I can then just return it to the machine when I am next using the Jura.
I have this machine for few weeks and I'm disappointed with the temperature of the drinks, my drinks are all set to high, milk/milk foam to 10/10 but the drink is at most warm. I'm not sure if this is normal for Z6! I'm starting to think my machine needs service. Any owner or Jura specialist here to give some input?
Rayan A on Aug 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I found the coffee from my machine is 171 degrees, well within the range recommended by the experts I've read. The milk & froth, however, is only about 135 degrees even when set to their highest setting. That temp is where the Jura support team tells me it is designed to be. That is substantially below the 150 degrees I've read is a good temp for milk & froth. As a result, my drinks with lots of milk in them come out hot but quite drinkable...good, but I'd prefer to have them hotter and wait a bit to cool.
What are the temperatures that I can set the Jura Z6 machine to? My ENA Micro 9 doesn't seem to get the drinks quite hot enough. I am wondering if this is the same.
Mitzi E on Mar 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I measured the temp of the coffee to be 170 degrees when set on the highest setting, which Jura support told me was their design target and which is well within the range I've read coffee experts say to target. The milk and foam, however, came in at only 135 degrees when on the highest setting. Jura again said that was about what to expect, but it is well below the 150 degrees I've read is a good target. As a result, my drinks with lots of milk in them come out hot but drinkable right away. I'd rather I have to blow on them and wait a bit for them to cool.
Is there an auto-program option to turn the machine on in the morning? How long does it take to brew a cup of coffee? Can you auto-program the machine to brew a cup of coffee by a certain time?
M R on Dec 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately there is not. There is no internal clock for this unit. Depending on the size coffee you want, it can take anywhere from 15 seconds to just over a minute to brew a cup of coffee.
This is by far the best coffee/ espresso maker i have ever owned.
Does two thermal blocks (Z9) verse one (Z6) make a difference in temp of drinks?
Dan C on Apr 8, 2016
JURA Z6 Automatic Coffee Machine
JURA Z6 Automatic Coffee Machine
Jura Impressa Z9
Jura Impressa Z9
BEST ANSWER: As per my review, I think the milk could be hotter, even when set to the highest setting. Apparently they aim for about 135 degrees. I'm not sure what the target temp is for the Z9. I'm also not sure 2 broilers vs 1 is what would make the difference. Certainly that might impact the time it takes to switch from heating coffee to heating milk, but the target temp is what they design it to hit in either of these machines. I must say on my old S9, which has 2 broilers but more importantly had a more manual (not 1-touch) frother function, milk could be made to get hotter as you had actual steam running through it in your pitcher.
Does this come in another color?

BEST ANSWER: A Carbon version available in 220 V at this time
Does the Jura z6 use the smart connect system? If so.... where on the machine do you insert the smart connect adaptor?
Adie T on Aug 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don't know what the smart connect system is. If it is the system that allows you to control the machine from your iPad, the first Z6 that I bought apparently came with it installed because as soon as I downloaded the Jura app I was able to control the machine with my iPad. However, I returned the first Z6 because it had some problems and the replacement does not respond to my iPad. Can Sur la Table explain why my first Z6 worked with my iPad and the second on does not? I have a feeling that I was snookered. David Trezise
