Siphon Coffee Brewer
Love, Love this coffee brewer. I was looking for a non-plastic coffee brewer, which don't exist. Only the pour over into glass units available. The only plastic part is the filter. Really wished they would have made it out of stainless steel. The coffee has a smooth taste to it. However there is no hot plate to keep it warm so you need to drink it soon after making it. Also the coffee pot isn't the easy to clean or dry. It is also hard to get the last drops of coffee out of the pot due to the design. I would recommend this product, however you need a little extra effort with using it.

I need the filters too
Awesome brewer. This baby makes a great cup of coffee with much less acid taste than any other coffee maker I have used. Kitchen aid only gives you 3 of the special filters. I know they are reusable but at some point I'll need more. Where can we get them ???

Brings back memories
I remember my parents had a Sunbeam that worked this way in the mid 50's. Very pleased with the taste of the coffee, but comparing it to the 50's model, the cloth filter clipped between two mesh filters, it was easy to remove, clean and use again and didn't have to be tied on and untied to remove to clean. The filter also extended down and hooked to the bottom of the syphon and was very secure. I've had a few times when the pressure of the water flowing up into the upper pot blew the filter out, even with making sure that the filter was securely in place. What a mess! Also, in this day in time, there should be a hold warm feature.

Great Coffee!!
I love the coffee made by this machine. I would say they need to make the base a warmer as well. The opening of the coffee pot is a bit small and makes it hard to clean. Those are two big things for me, the machine would be perfect otherwise.

GREAT cup of coffee
Have been brewing coffee via the vacuum process for years. I have several Silex and Cory brewers and a Sunbeam Coffeemaster electric vacuum coffee maker that my parents used in the 1950s.
Happy to see that Kitchen Aid has made the process simpler and love the magnetic seal rather than the former rubber seal that was the norm on the old vacuum pots.

Wish that the entire bottom unit could be immersed in water for cleaning, but when cleaning the bottom unit, adding some bicarbonate of soda and water and let the unit stand for an hour or two will keep the unit fresh and eliminate stale coffee odor and taste. Great coffee brewer, well worth the money

KitchenAid siphon coffee pot
This coffee pot makes the best coffee that I have ever had from a home coffee pot. It might be better than from a coffee shop.

Making coffee the right way
I enjoy this style of brewing as it produces a very favorable coffee. The issue I have with this product is it does not have a mode to keep the coffee hot after brewing. If making a full pot, you need to transfer the coffee to a thermos if you don't serve it all within a short time

Best Coffee Ever!
I recently purchased this excellent Siphon coffee brewer. I have been a fan of siphon/vacuum coffee for quite some time now. I still have, and use my Sunbeam Coffeemaster C-30 vacuum coffee maker. It was quite a surprise when I saw this new model by KitchenAid on the market. Its been more than 40 years since a major appliance brand has produced and sold a siphon/vacuum coffee brewer in the USA. This brewer by KitchenAid is a very well made product, will last many years. It is a faster brewer than those of years ago, and the flavor of the coffee is very bold, robust, but not bitter. Fun to watch the brewing process too. Cleanup is a little more time consuming than that of a drip maker, but well worth the effort when you taste the wonderful coffee it produces. Go out and buy one, you'll be glad you did.

Great coffee machine
We bought this a few weeks ago and it met all of or expectation. Vaccum pots can make the best coffee - this one does an exceptional job: far better coffee than other brew methods. This one is also easy to use and clean. I highly recommend to to anyone interested in a great cup of coffee!

Looks great POOR performance
I bought this coffee pot as a finishing touch to my brand new kitchen (I had waited for 5 years). It had the old fashioned methodology with a new, modern look... just like my kitchen. I've really tried to love this coffee pot, really, but I can't. First, there is no coffee aroma that as a coffee lover, I so look forward to in the morning!!! The coffee filter cloth that comes with it doesn't work, nor do the other variations I've purchased. Each and every cup is loaded with black soot/grains at the bottom. I've adjusted amount of coffee and ground textures for the last 6 months! Clean up is a mess, but I'd easily go through the trouble if the coffee was worth it. The look on the counter after I've brewed a cup is also messy, coffee grains remain within the globe... and when I'm so excited to taste that first sip of hot coffee, the last thing I want is to clean the globe! The lack of buzzer (since aroma is absent) leaves me to find a cold brew... unless of course, I stand there and wait for it... not functional.

I plan to use this to brew cocoa beans to extract their complete and best flavor. I thought it would be an acquired taste and I might have to add sweetener or milk, but it turns out I liked brewed cocoa beans immediately and without anything added!

My husband is a coffee lover & he's very picky about his coffee. We went to SF & he had a cup of siphon coffee & loved it. So for his birthday I'm going to surprise him with this gadget. I hope it meets his coffee expectation. Keeping my fingers crossed.

We had the Bodum (2, in their lifetime) siphon-style coffee maker and LOVED them! We are big coffee drinkers and always put our makers through the paces. I beloved Cuisinart has died and in looking for a replacement, came across this. SO EXCITED! Cannot wait for it to arrive and crossing my fingers for an amazing cup of coffee!

Does it take disposable filters? How easy is it to clean?
A shopper on Apr 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This coffee maker does NOT use disposable filters. It comes with one which installs into the top glass globe. I take it out every time I make coffee to clean. The top globe is very easy to clean. However the bottom pot is a bit challenging. I use a brush because the opening is small and I'm unable to get my hand in there in order to clean it. I must say, I love the smooth coffee it makes. I grind my own beans just before I brew it and I use cold filtered water.
Is this a stove top brewer like the Bodum Vacuum brewer or is it electric?
A shopper on Jul 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The KitchenAid siphon brewer operates just like a Bodum vacuum brewer...water is heated in the bottom vessel and moves to the top to brew the coffee when heated. The KitchenAid, however, does heat the water with an electric base while the Bodum is a stovetop device.
