Sweet, mild shallot flavor

Description

Inspired by the salad dressing in one of Tom’s favorite Parisian bistros, this mustard is full of sweet and mild shallot flavor. Created just for us, it is made with all-natural ingredients and contains no preservatives or MSG.

Try these recipes using Toasted Shallot Mustard:

Mustard/Rub for Prime Rib
  • 3 tablespoons Toasted Shallot Mustard
  • 6 tablespoons Veggie Rub
  • 3-bone rib roast (approx. 6-7 pounds)


Remove roast from refrigerator 30-60 minutes before cooking and pat dry.

Preheat oven to 400°F. Mix Toasted Shallot Mustard with Tom Douglas Veggie Rub and rub mixture over the entire roast and place in a roasting pan.

Roast for 20 min, then reduce heat to 350°F to desired doneness. Allow to rest before carving.

Mustard Vinaigrette
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Toasted Shallot Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • ½ cup plus 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt & pepper to taste


Combine the first 4 ingredients in a bowl. Gradually whisk in the oil until emulsified. Season to taste with salt & pepper.

Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce
  • ½ cup cold water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 4 teaspoons Toasted Shallot Mustard


Dissolve cornstarch in water over medium heat. Stir in honey and heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer until sauce thickens (10-15 min).

Remove sauce from heat, stir in lemon juice and Toasted Shallot mustard. Serve warm or chill in refrigerator.

Devilish Eggs
  • 1 dozen hard boiled eggs
  • ½ cup Toasted Shallot Mustard (try Spicy Mustard for extra kick)
  • 3 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • Salt & pepper to taste


Slice eggs in half and place yolks in bowl. Mix yolks with other ingredients and mash with fork to smooth texture, season to taste with salt & pepper. Fill each egg half with mixture and refrigerate until serving. Optional: sprinkle with Smoked paprika or chopped fresh herbs.
