OK Kettle
I purchased this kettle it worked great for two weeks then it started switching to Celsius and would not hold its settings. So I changed the batteries and it fixed the problem for another two weeks, again I changed the batteries. There is a problem with the kettle holding its memory. Other than that issue the kettle heats water fine. I called Kitchen Aid and they are sending out a new one that hopefully works like it should.

Red hot kettle
I bought this kettle in smokin' hot red and couldn't be more pleased. Your overall satisfaction may correlate with your tolerance for beeps-- personally, I like to hear I should get back into the kitchen for my hot water if I've wandered off.
For me, the variable temperature is a welcome feature, and matching water temp to different types of tea is easy, and kids can get hot cocoa that's not-too-hot. The best thing: from the very first use, no chemical taste or smell, ever.
Love, love, love the design--it has a small presence on the counter, and everyone who walks into my kitchen says some variation of wow, that looks great.

Not happy with the quality
The kettle itself is fantastic. Our problem is that we discovered a little crack on the window. It didn't fall or anything. We brought it back and we got a replacement. In less than a month the exact same thing happened. I am going to bring it back tomorrow. I will purchase different brand. Sorry guys...

High quality - works well!
The old adage, "you get what you pay for" holds true on many things such as cars, cameras, and certainly holds true for tea kettles. This is one quality tea kettle, and I feel it will last for a good 10 years or more! About 10 years ago I bought a braun which lasted me about 7 1/2 years, but eventually the stainless bottom plate of the interior became almost rusted where the heating element was below. (basically a C shaped rusty ring on the inside bottom) Although the braun continued to work great- the thought of that rust-ish material possibly being present in my tea made me buy a new kettle. Money was tight when I got the replacement, (I can't remember the name right now) paid 30 bucks, and although it worked, I felt it was cheaply made and knew it would not last. Six months later, that same rusty ring on the bottom appeared, which had taken many years to appear on the braun. I thought it was time to go back to a quality kettle, and choose this kitchenaid for the great style and reputation kitchenaid has. Although it's fairly expensive for an electric tea kettle, I feel the money is well spent. This kettle is solid, well made, and works well. As someone had posted, it's not as fast as kettles in England, but then again we don't have 220 power. I lived there for a bit myself, and loved the quickness of how fast water would come to a boil, but that's not going to happen here in the states because of the 120 current. Even with our lesser power here- this kettle will bring water to boil in a minute, (assuming you're making enough for a good sized mug) even when the starting temp of the water is about 40 degress F. I pour water from my brita water jug which is kept in the fridge, and that cold water still gets to a boil in about 1 minute. If you used room temp tap, I'm sure it would be more like 40 seconds or something. I'm really happy with this kettle and I know it's going to last many years. (I've had it for about 2 months now) Definitely worth the 100 bucks. :)

Works very well
I liked the temperature hold feature and the 'footprint' of the kettle. Our previous kettle worked well too but was semi-spherical and took up a larger portion of the counter-top.

Boils water quickly and the easily visible water level is useful.

My only (trivial) negative is the kettle's 'beep'. Not only is it pretty loud, it beeps at everything: when the kettle is removed from or replaced from its base. I already know the the kettle is being removed/replaced - I'm holding onto it. I don't need a beep to let me know this. Similarly, I don't need a shrill beep every time I press a button to modify the hold temperature. I'm right next to the kettle, within arms reach. A little ping would do to alert me to the fact I've changed a setting. A beep that can be heard the other end of the house is a little overkill.

Other than that, its a great kettle.

A solid choice...recommended.
Was searching for a sturdy electric/electronic kettle that, unlike a few that I've had, would not wear out within a year of daily use. This one is well-built, boils water quickly, and has a variable temperature setting that's really handy if you're a parent of a young child and sometimes just need some hot, but not boiling water. Only one minor complaint...the kettle 'beeps' when it is turned on, when it completes boiling, and when it is mounted on the base. You can't turn this feature off.

Nice apart from the beeping
Good pouring action, fairly fast boil time. A nice kettle, except for the beep. It is too loud and it happens much too often. Most of all the user can not choose to turn it off.

Love my new Kettle!!!
Our Breville electric kettle of 9 years finally gave up and we were in the market for a new model. I already have the Kitchenaid mixer in red so when I saw the Red Kitcheniad electric kettle I was excited and especially since it has a stainless steel interior. I was even happier when I found out that it also has temperature controls for different types of beverages I was even more excited because I am a Steeped Tea Consultant and I have different types of teas that require different steeping temperatures so this feature is fantastic. Love my new kettle!

I LOVE this kettle!
Being a 60-something British woman, I've used a lot of kettles:this by far is my favourite. I gave this product 4 stars because it's a bit awkward to see how much water is going into the kettle.

I have health issues with my hands but this kettle poses no problems with the following:
1. The shape of the handle is comfortable and is set a generous distance from the kettle...no burnt fingers!
2. The weight when full (1.7 litres ) is manageable.
3. The lid opens easily with a push button.
I Iike the shape and colour ( I bought a red one.).
The spout pours the water cleanly, no dripping.

I really like the "Hold Temperature" feature and being able to pre-set the water temperature.
Finally, I'm not the only one who loves the blue light display: my grandchildren do as well.

Good but very noisy
Nice design, but it beeps endlessly - when you connect it, when you start it, when the water boils (three times) - too loud, and can easily disturb anyone still trying to sleep in the other room

Is wire attached to the kettle itself or to a separate base?
A shopper on Oct 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The plug in wire is attached to a separate base.
