Very nice for soup and stews
I read previous reviews before purchasing 8 of these. There is a small hole under the handle that fills the inside of the dish when they are washed. I stuffed a small piece of cotton in each hole with a toothpick and filled the space with a couple drops of Krazy Glue. Problem solved. I now wash them in my dishwasher with no problems.

The bowls are fine but...there are tiny holes in the handles that can let water into the handle which eventually drips out while you are using the bowl. They do say dishwasher safe but apparently I will have to hand wash them without immersion to prevent this from happening.

Great bowls
I purchased those to present scallops in a creamy white sauce I made on New Year's Eve. I poached the scallops previously and placed them with the sauce in the bowls before reheating them in the oven for 15 minutes at 350. However, afterwards, I used the broiler at 410 to achieve a nice gratinée on top, even though the label said 350 maximum in the oven. The bowls withstood the heat just fine, and the handles made it very easy for me to remove them from the oven and placed them on the serving plates. They looked beautiful and the scallops stayed very warm while we ate. A great find at a great price that I will find many uses for. I also washed them in the dishwasher at high temperature, no problem there either. I don't understand the other comment about the hole in the handle being a problem for washing or serving. I would definitely recommend those bowls.

Great product
I like that I can handle the bowl with hot soup without burning my hand. Even great to use for hot cheese dip.

Classic Soup Bowls + Many Other Uses..!
I bought 12 of these and LOVE them--as does my husband. It started just as soup bowls, specifically French Onion soup bowls as that is what I make the most. I love making soups of all kinds--huge batches even though there's only 2 of us. I freeze them flat in 2 gallon zip lock backs for future use for dinner parties as well as ourselves. Our bowls have daily use--from soup to cereal to ice cream. Their timeless style works with any decor or style of dinnerware. Note: I particularly wanted these bowls for my French Onion soup as I use the classic 'Gruyere' cheese and place it on top of the crusty bread under the broiler. That's the way I learned and it is also the classic way to make the soup. Problem is that Gruyere cheese is just impossible to clean off bowls that have detail/recesses/lips, so with the smooth lip of these bowls, it's as easy to clean as possible. I'm giving my old soup bowls with handle away and now these are the only ones I have. Having them oven-proof is huge and opens up all kinds of recipes. My husband likes my soups a lot, and I hesitate to say he'll use the handle to pick it up and drink the last remaining drops!

My mother said she wanted handled soup bowls when I was driving her around the East Coast last September. Yours are the only ones that aren't revoltingly tacky. Thank you.

I chose these soup bowls specifically to serve French Onion Soup - and they are able to go into the oven in order to melt the cheese before serving. The handles will make it easier to remove and plate when hot.

I am looking for soup bowls that only hold 12 oz. Hoping the 16 oz capacity means to the rim. My experience with most soup bowls is that they are too big.

Can these be placed under a broiler? ex: when making french onion soup
Ashley M on Sep 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: As long as the temperature does not exceed the oven safe temperature of 350°F, they will be fine.
Are these bowls "stack-able"? Or will they fall over?
Scott P on Oct 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I can easily stack three on top. The do not fall over. I have not tried more as I think they will be less stable and three is the right height for my cabinet.
Why is there a hole in the handle of soup bowls??
A shopper on Nov 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I am certainly no expert or have inside knowledge, but my sense of it is in the mold process for the bowl and how it is made at the factory with the equipment. The hole, as you may know, is extremely small. Depending upon how you load your dishwasher in relationship to the sprays inside, it is almost a non-issue. Some have said water gets in and if one hand washes and dunks or soaks the bowl--yes, water can get in. And if that is the case then I'd put it on a rack to air dry inside with the hole in a position where the water would flow to it. I have had NO issue with water staying inside. I put the bowls in my dishwasher and occasionally hand wash them (but not soak them) and no issues with water. Hope that helps. These are great little bowls. I have 12 of them and stack 2 at a time for storage. My husband uses them ALL the time for soup but also for cereal and other uses. The plain white and non-specific design works with all kinds of dishware. I looked all over for just the right bowls as I make French Onion Soup with extremely hard to clean Gruyere cheese. The lip on these bowls makes for much easier cleaning than other bowls. They're just great!
What is capacity in oz for this soup bowl ?
A shopper on Oct 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It holds 16 ounces, 2 cups. That is just water. Noodles, vegetables, etc would probably displace some of the liquid.
Does anyone know if these bowls are lead-free?
A shopper on Nov 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I use them in the microwave with no problems. Very nice bowls.
I love these bowls but I ran them through the dishwasher top shelf. The handles filled up with quite a bit of water. I’ve tried shaking it out doesn’t seem to be doing the trick. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Holly R on Mar 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Use a toothpick or small piece of wire and the water should wick out.
Why do you say not over 350 degrees for this soup bowl?
A shopper on Nov 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Use over the instructed temperature could damage the product.
