We love this product
I bought this because my husband and I are eating healthy. There is a sorbet recipe that all you put in the bowl is fruit. We have tried several combinations and have loved them all! I would highly recommend this product.

Wonderful!
Makes great ice cream and fuss free. No ice/salt to deal with just freezing the bowl. Really does produce ice cream in less than 30 minutes!

Cuisinart Fruit Scoop Ice Cream Maker
I have been wanting an ice cream maker for some time. My first attempt was unbelievably easy and so delicious.
It will be fun to make fruit freezes with my grandchildren.
Highly recommend! Easy clean up too.

Love this ice cream machine
I just purchased this machine and have used it twice using the recipes in the enclosed booklet. I made the salted caramel ice cream and just minutes ago the fresh strawberry ice cream. Though the salted caramel ice cream takes a bit more time and effort to make, it is just unbelievably delicious. Worth the extra time and effort and an impression dessert to serve to dinner guests. The strawberry is also super wonderful and so easy to make. The whole process of using and cleaning this machine is great and if there is any drawback, which is a minor thing, it can be a bit tricky to scoop all of the ice cream off of the stirring inserts that are use. I just use a small plastic spatula type spoon which seems to do the trick. Worth the money and a wonderful treat to be able to enjoy. I would recommend purchasing the Sur La Table ice cream containers, they work great and are the perfect size for each batch.

YUM! We are using this 2x week.
We have made Gelato, Banana Chip Fruit desert and the Mixed Berry Fruit Desert. All of them are FANTASTIC!
The Fruit Scoop will pay for itself in three more batches!
We only use fresh fruit, coconut/almond/cashew milk and real eggs/ingredients to make our deserts. Serious food allergies in the family so everything needs to be real and fresh. The recipes are super easy to follow. Now when we make the deserts they are soft serve right out of the machine. Then we freeze the extra in plastic containers. When it is time for a treat, the frozen product in our plastic containers is extremely hard. So we have to let it melt a bit before we can scoop or eat it. Just noting that it is not easily scoopable after frozen due to the lack of preservatives and how cold our freezer is.
Love that it makes enough for four servings total. I'm sure we could add more to the machine to make more yet it will come up out of the top if you add too much so we make smaller batches. Calls for 6-8 bananas, we put in 5. Then we don't have to clean up a mess later.
Super happy we purchased this.

LOVE this machine!
I've made one batch of ice cream and several batches of fruit ice and sorbet. It's so easy to use and to clean.
One note: make sure that your ingredients a chilled before adding to the machine. I made one batch of sorbet with room temp fruits and it didn't setup.
Now, I'm looking to get a second canister...

fruit scoop
Have used this once so far. Works great. Just cut up watermelon, strawberries and raspberries and made a sorbet with no sugar for my grandson who calls it "ice cream". Took about 25 minutes. Glad I purchased this. Intend to make some other recipes soon.

I already have a Cuisinart ice cream maker. Can I order a sorbet attachment for it and would it fit? Thank you
BEST ANSWER: I have the cuisinart ice cream maker as well. The freezer bowls appear to be a different size & the paddle attachments are completely different. With that said, there is an ice cream paddle provided with the fruit scoop along with the specialized fruit paddle. I've made 2 different batches with the fruit paddle & both were amazing. I highly recommend the fruit scoop as an addition to your ice cream maker if you like frozen refreshing desserts!!

Can you just cut and add fruit or is more effort required?
BEST ANSWER: I made strawberry sorbet and cut the strawberries into 1" pieces and then mixed some coconut milk, sugar and lime juice and poured it all in through the top. Be careful to not put too much in so it doesn't overflow as it freezes. Very easy and I'm really glad I purchased it. Enjoy!!

Can you buy an additional freezing bowl, so one is always ready to use?
BEST ANSWER: The ICE-31 is a new product in the Cuisinart line, I believe. The Cuisinart website shows freezer bowls for similar models, such as the ICE-21 model for around thirty. Imagine that unless this model turns out to be a dog, they will offer bowls for it at some point. Might be too much to hope that one of the existing bowls can be used with the ICE-31. Think a phone call to Cuisinart customer service could provide the answer.

does the bowl to the Cuisinart ice cream maker fit this machine too? and how is it different than the ice cream maker?
BEST ANSWER: The two machines have different bowl shapes and are incompatible. The Fruit Scoop will crush/smoosh/blend fresh fruit into a tasty treat with its fruit crushing blades. Or, you can take them out and use the regular paddle to make traditional ice cream.

Do you have to put the bowl in the freezer before you can use it or does it freeze it for you on the machine?
BEST ANSWER: Yes you must place the bowl in the freezer for several hours before using AND after making one batch, it's not cold enough to make a second batch! I scrape all of the finished ice cream into a storage container, rinse and hand wash the bowl and get it back into the freezer ASAP so it will be ready to make another batch in a few hours. HINT shake the frozen bowl and if you can hear any liquid sloshing...it's not ready!

i bought one of these on June 5th; so far i have tried the dairy-free recipe 3 times, and it always is full of ice crystal, edible; what am i doing wrong, help, please?
BEST ANSWER: We make dairy free all the time with Coconut Milk, Almond and Cashew Milk. Turns out great. Gelato with Coconut milk works great too. When we boiled down fresh fruit and followed a sorbet recipe, there were no ice crystals in the soft service that comes out of the bowl. There were ice crystals in the left overs we froze. We had to leave that sitting on the counter for 15 min before we could scoop it and eat it without brain freeze. Then the ice crystals melt quickly.

Is the ice cream bowl stainless steel?
BEST ANSWER: I don't think so. When I tapped on it with my fingernail, it sounded like plastic. I'm referring to the removal bowl that goes in the freezer.

when its assembled, is it right that the frozen bowl and the fruit paddle go around in the same direction and the same speed at the same time ?
BEST ANSWER: Mine is at the lake cabin, but the first two times we used it it worked great, but the next two never set up maybe because the motor wasn't on when we added the mixture. It does seem like it's not really stirring that well. Sorry, but I can't check it right now.

Does the ice cream paddle remain stationary?
BEST ANSWER: Yes. The fruit or sorbet paddle with more than 2 blades is the one that twirls around.

Can this make gelato as well as ice cream?
BEST ANSWER: If you have a gelato recipe, it should work. The recipe booklet gives recipes for sorbet, ice cream, smoothies, frozen yogurt and slushies but technically no gelato recipe. Think you could definitely try it. The sorbet and ice cream I've made are delicious. The plain vanilla ice cream tastes super homemade.

What are the dimensions of the bowl?
BEST ANSWER: The inside of the freezer bowl is about 5" diameter and 5" tall. Sounds small but it holds about a quart and a half or 5- 6 cups of fruit for processing.
