Excellent Attachment w/Some Issues
Purchased this attachment as a replacement for an original Spiralizer (manual crank), which was made primarily of plastic, and was insufficiently robust to handle anything harder than a zucchini squash. Also intend for the attachment to replace hand-crank apple peeler/slicer.
Very happy with the peeler/slicer function of the attachment, and mostly happy with the spiralizer portion. I have 2 complaints:

1. The attachment is insufficiently long to allow processing of full-length squash, so I have to cut each vegetable in half. This would a minor problem, except it is exacerbated by my second complaint.

2. The spiralizing function of the attachment stops with over an inch of the vegetable unprocessed. When combined with my first complaint, this problem results in a loss of nearly 3 inches of each vegetable processed.

Great so far... but what happened to the other two blades?
I bought this about 2 weeks ago and have enjoyed trying new recipes and fruits and vegetables. It works great ... so far. I noticed in the instruction booklet, there are two additional extra fine/thin blades that are not included in my set? What happened? I can see how these thinner blades would be necessary to be fully happy with the spiralizer.

I debated between 3 or 4 stars. I like it but don't love it like I did when I first got it a month ago. The peeler is a total waste! If by chance you get it to work, almost impossible to keep separate from the good stuff. You waste a lot of vegetable! If it isn't shaped almost perfect, tricky to get it to work. There is def a learning curve!

Although it might seem pricey, the cost of buying spiralized items is very high. Depending on how often you use it, you can recover the cost in a short time. It takes some testing to determine the correct length of squash to use. If it's too short you end up with a lot of waste. Also, you need to cut the spiral lengths as they come out or they are too long to eat.
Overall this is a great accessory and certainly worth having.

Healthy Alternatives Available
Love it. Zucchini spirals instead of starchy pasta, veggies peeled with great ease and no waste. One thing, though, make sure the veggies you use in the spiraling are not too wide or too long. Saves having to trim them. I am very happy with my purchase.

Are all the different attachments interchangeable on all KitchenAid stands or do you have to identify which ones work on the different models? Not the bowls as I see they say 3qt 5qt 6qt. Thank you.
A shopper on Jul 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Attachments that attach to the front of the machine can be used on any mixer, the ones that attach to the bottom are specific to certain mixers.
I already have the spiralizer. Will the extra attachments that come with the spiralizer plus be sold separately so we can use it without spending the money to get another one? I, for one, can't afford that!! Thank you, Vivian Kramer
A shopper on Jul 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Vivian, the product I've linked below are the extra blades the Plus version comes with. Happy Zoodling! (sp?)

KitchenAid® Spiralizer Thin Blade Set
How is the clean up using these spiralizers?
Joanie R on Aug 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi. The blades are top rack dishwasher safe but the body cannot be submerged so it's recommended to use a wet soft cloth to clean with. I'm a klutz and if I put the blades in the dishwasher it's a matter of time before I slice myself so I wash all the parts with soap and a soft bristled brush. The blades and spear I run completely under water but the main body , which doesn't contact food much I lightly wash then quickly rinse just the end where the blade and food was the dry it. If the end that connects to the mixer needs cleaning you can do the same with that. Honestly it probably takes more time decide what blade I want and to take it in and out of the box than it does to clean :-)
I would like to know what the differences are between this model and the regular model—I know there are 6 blades rather than 3, but what sizes are those additional blades? And does this model come with a storage box, as does the regular model? This info should be listed in the "What's in the Box" but it's isn't.

BEST ANSWER: Ex fine, fine, med- spiralizer; Thin slice small core, slice small core, slice large core and peel. Comes in a nice organized Cardboard box w/ Styrofoam insert. Almost a case, but I noted a small dent and a small tear in the beautiful box. I will definitely keep mine in the box. I am outfitting a Kitchen and have not used it yet ( or my new commercial range), so I have nothing to offer there; Looks like a nice piece of equipment. Price shown today is much lower than I paid on sale- get it now, as KitchenAid is not always on sale! I have a photo, but can't figure out how to post it. Ask them to contact me if you would like it.
Does the Spiralizer Plus kit have a better peeler?
Lindy Y on Nov 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure what you mean by "better peeler' . . .( than the original kitchenaid spiralizer?) My only experience is with the kitchenaid Spiralizer Plus. Peeling apples and potatoes was quick and easy -- no problems.
Does the Spiralizer Plus have the extra fine spiralizer that makes angel hair size?
A shopper on Aug 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It includes the medium, fine and extra-fine blades. Just be sure to check the contents when your kit arrives - the first one we got had 2 fine and no extra-fine. Sur la Table were super-quick to deal with the issue and get a correct kit out to us - kudos to them for the great service.
Is there an attacment that peels and cores only? I do not need spiralizer, just peel and core.
Margaret H on Nov 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There is an attachment that peels and cores. The kit that is sold by Sur la Table includes this attachment along with other attachments that include spiralizer attachments.
